Daily Thought: SOME PEOPLE ARE LIKE SLINKIES. NOT REALLY GOOD FOR ANYTHING BUT THEY BRING A SMILE TO YOUR FACE WHEN PUSHED DOWN THE STAIRS.

    Buy?!

Didn't you just buy a new computer a couple of months ago?

I don't buy a new computer, I build one. Big Smile

It's more fun, Tom.  Everything works when you build it yourself.

Sweet. We're busy computer shopping right now. Hopefully we can convince one of our more knowledgeable friends to come along with us so we don't get ripped off ...

One of the first rules is to find someone to build it for you.

Choose retail parts: Microsoft, Logitech (Their keyboards/mice are built way better than what a computer package throws together), Western Digital...  Get a case that's solid and well built, and a good named power supply like Antec.

Store bought computers are plain pathetic.

You can't get ripped off if you buy the parts yourself.  Just pay somebody to assemble them and you're off and running. Party!!!

Now I know what happened and who to look for.  If you wait long enough, they always start bragging.

    Who, moi? Stick out tongue

    Keeps me off the streets.

Very nice TT... sweet indeed . Happy for you man . ...

I'm happy for me too, Dave. Big Smile

I'll be thinking of you while we watch our new (got it this week) 42" Samsung Plasma Flatscreen hooked up to 800watts of surround sound.   cheers to ya ...D

<<Yawn>>  I got a 52" big screen.  Plasma's good, but the life expectancy is short.

My PC speakers are  560 watts peak power-- but my big screen TV's 5.1 polk audio surround sound is 800W too.    I got a huge subwoofer. Devil

    Cheers, dude. Drinks

Oh, we can still get ripped off if we don't know how much the parts are supposed to cost, or even what parts we need if we want the thing to work for more than six months. We got a quote from a place that will sell us the parts and put them together, and our techie friends say the guy who runs it can be trusted, but I'd still like to take along someone who can actually talk intelligently to him and get us what we need.

Hell, five years ago I could have done this myself. But technology has kept moving and I haven't kept up. :-/
