Anyone know how many Fox was planning to run? If 13 episodes (and counting the premiere as 2 of those), that would take it through the end of June. Which isn't too brutal; always nice to build some viewer continuity for after sweeps.

They've ordered 13, but are only airing six of them before summer, ending May 7. The timeslot will be filled with extended season finales of other shows during May sweeps, followed by a new reality show for summer. It looks like they plan to build in some pretty intricate backstory, so I doubt if six episodes would be enough to snag viewers even if the ratings to date hadn't sucked.

Now come on, Fox isn't any worse than any other network at that. NBC just cancelled 'Andy Barker P.I.' after six episodes (the last two conjoined on a Saturday night), then promptly did even worse on a Thursday night without it. And while Fox has certainly become mainstream, they still put some shows on the air that no other network would take a chance on.

That was a bit of a crack about Tim Minear's history with Fox. Their mangling of Firefly is legendary, and they did the same thing with Wonderfalls, moving it around the schedule without notice then cancelling it after four episodes. Maybe Fox isn't any worse than other networks, but they get no gold stars for putting on shows nobody else will when they don't give them a chance once they're on the air.

Probably a good idea not to get too attached to this show - from what I saw, the ratings last night weren't great. Spring is a really crappy time to start a new serialized drama, as there just aren't enough episodes to build momentum before the summer hiatus. Let's just hope they do the un-FOX-like thing and give it a fair chance.

Drive Episode 4

So much better than last. Finally, character development, were getting to see how far people can be pushed. Nice to see a bit of Mal in Tully.

Great to see the familiar Buffy/Angel scene flip. "There are no accidents!", cut to next shot, Ooops, Accident!!!

Yow! The Gumball Rally returns! Seriously, I'm waiting for someone to do a big screen production of the old Hanna Barbera favourite "The Wacky Racers" which probably would be better than this show. Ah well, an actor has to take anything to be able to eat these days.

Yeah I was thinking the same thing to myself last night.  There are a few others too....they probably won't last long either.

I imagine because she continued in the race and took the phone....that was why they took her out.  I almost fell out of my chair when they finally stopped rolling and then the truck came out of no where and slammed into them!  Holy crap!

The whole incident at the bank too....  woah!  Don't imagine his bro is going to die though since he IS in the opening credits.  He must know a doctor or something.

Very good episode!!  I don't see how this show can be cancelled...it's an absolute roller coaster ride every week!  I would be a shame.

UPDATE: Fox now says the final two Drives will air this summer, specific date TBA.

According to Futon Critic they will be airing House repeats in it's place.  The thing I think that did drive in and you can say this was why the ratings were so low is lack of promotion but I guess when your station airs a ratings power house like American Idol you have very little left to promote your other shows

Can't say I'm surprised at the cancellation, disappointed, but not surprised.

In regards to promotion of the show, I never saw a commercial for it nor any other sort of advert, be it on-line or in-print, though I have heard that the commercial spots for the show were dreadful. So, maybe it was a lack of promotion, or maybe inept promotion that failed to draw an audience, but who knows. Maybe car themes aren't that popular these days.
