It is the Destroyer Class ship of the Empire's from Star Wars.
Actually it is an Imperial Class Star Destroyer :D
They carry 6 fighter squadrons, 3 troop regiments plus turbo lasers, Ion cannons and have a shield strength of 300
    I was close enough. :p

I really like the design of the ship, though. Very intimidating.
I agree, I think they are the coolest space warships in sci fi :D :D :D

Beautiful.Have fun building that - I can only imagine how many flat grey tiles are in it - i would suggest that you sort them in to their dimensional sizes before beginning instead of rummageing thru the pile each time you need one - that was always a pain when i was in a lego frenzy trying to find a 4x6 flat blue when i needed it

    Holy Crap!

    3014 pieces

Are you going to assemble it then undo it and bring it to Ottawa so we can have a crack at it?

Are you going to have a LEGO party?

    Re: The LEGO has arrived!!!

    That is so awesome!

But, you know what bugs me about Lego nowadays? They customize the pieces so much that there are parts that can't be used for anything BUT the thing it was made for. Like those ball things on the Star destroyer? What else could you use those for?

The beauty of Lego was being able to take generic pieces & somehow worth them into your design. When I was a kid, I used to build Star Wars ships out of Lego all the time, but I only had "space Lego" (which was grey & blue, had thrusters & wings) The wings were so versatile. You could use them to make the front of the Millenium Falcon, or a snowspeeder, or those RotJ tie-fighters maybe. And the thrusters could be used for... well, thrusters, but you could stack them on top of each other to make weird "Battle Beyond the Stars"-ish type of ships or put them on a lego scenery platform as nuclear reactors/power generators.

So I have to say "BAH!" to the current "you can only make one thing with your Lego" philosophy.

Don, I agree with you completely.
I've had that frustration for years now.
I like some specialized pieces, but not the lego that aims at making just one specific thing.

    Oh yea..
    That's one crazy Lego Ship..
Be sure to take pictures of when you finish it!

    Cool...

You'd like my friend, I think he has them all.

And in non-related news, his girlfriend is leaving him.

    :D

You know what I used to do.... I'd make the Battlestar Galactica... but then I'd only have a bunch of small Lego pieces left. So I'd just kind of put together a bunch of wonky, mishapen pieces, and they became the "rag-tag fleet"! hehe!

that is SO awesome--now that I'm married I could get away with that without fear of her leaving :p Just curious what would something like that cost--both the ship and the shipping? 22lbs

    (i so want one now...)

hehe, yeah, that's what I was thinking... 22lbs... that's gotta be a lot of postage. And Lego's notoriously expensive, too.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who feels this way. What gets me is, you know when we see these amazing Lego sculptures that artists do, we're blown away by how they can make ordinary Lego look like the Titanic, Empire State Building, etc.... whatever. I think that's where Lego got the idea from to make these specific models. But the one important point is that many of these "Lego artists" made their things from very generic pieces. They didn't have the totally custom piece to construct their doohicky, they had to figure out how to do it on their own.

I'm sure my Battlestar Galactica, or Star Destroyer Executor (another fave construct of mine) looked fairly crappy. But my imagination filled in the gaps.

I don't think you can "hang" Lego - little bitty pieces would separate and then you'd have a pile of Lego on the ground when it all comes crashing down. :D

Spot, you may need to quit your job again.
Are you kidding? That's the only reason I splurged on this item - the new salary. :D
