    Maybe they are reimagining it.

It sounds an awful lot like the first eipsode of the series.
It does. I think that someone at the promo department at Universal decided to "sex up" the description of the original pilot to use in the press release. It acts a nice overview of the entire series for people who aren't familiar with it. It also acts as a foil as to not give out the exact plot of the film.

It won't be an exact copy of the pilot, then?

No, the movie isn't going to be a remake, re-imagining, or copy of the pilot.

    Great poster!

Here's my idea for a tag line:

    Pretty Big Damn Heros

(Still debating throwing in a comma ;) )

    I kinda like
"Once you're on Serenity, you never leave" or soemthing like that. I can't remember the exact line. I think it's in the deleted scenes for the frist episode.

But no doubt it'l be something completly different.

    ZOE:
"Once you've been in Serenity, you
never leave. You just learn to live
    there."

    It's a great line.

Yeah, I think that would be a great line for a tag line, but I seriously doubt it will be anything from the series.

If this movie does well, maybe some network exec will get the bright idea that it might make a good TV series... following in the footsteps of The Fugitive and Traffik (or Traffic) both of which were TV Series, then Movies, then TV series again.

    ;)

The final script Joss wrote leaves open the possibility of either future movies or a series return. The first script basically acted as a finale.

If Firefly does return to prime time television what network will it be on? Which ones does Universal own?

    Here's the Vivendi/Universal website - vivendiuniversal.com
    From that site:

    Universal Television Group

Universal Television Group is one of the major producers and distributors of television programing worldwide. Current hits include Universal Television's highly-successful Law & Order franchise (the long-running series Law & Order and its spinoffs, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit and Law & Order: Criminal Intent) as well as popular networks series such as The Agency, The District and Dragnet. Other popular titles include the talk shows and reality shows Maury, The Jerry Springer Show, The Fifth Wheel and Crossing Over With John Edward. Major cable TV hits in 2002 include Monk (aired on USA Network), Tremors (aired on Sci Fi) and the mini-series Steven Spielberg Presents: Taken (aired on Sci Fi).

VUE operates four cable television networks in the U.S.: USA Network, a general entertainment network reaching approximately 87 million households; Sci Fi Channel which features science fiction, paranormal, and fantasy programming, available in approximately 80 million households; Trio, popular arts television reaching 15 million households and Newsworld International, a 24-hour news channel available in 14 million households. VUE also operates a network of television channels in 25 countries outside the U.S.: 13th Street –The Action & Suspense Channel, Studio Universal, The Sci-Fi Channel and USA Network.

But who's to really say what network it could possibly return to. It's purely idle speculation at this point in space and time. Me? I'm just looking forward to the Big Damn Movie next summer.

    :D

Do you think there are enough Browncoats to make Serenity a success at the box office?

Re: The Firefly Movie: "Serenity " - The Big Damn Thread (Spoileramrific)

Well, I hear it's 2.5x the cost of a movie that needs to be grossed to make it profitable, in general, so with a $35 million budget that means it needs to make about 87.5 million

Say, I dunno $10 American per ticket (on average). That means 8.75 million people have to go and see it. On FOX it was getting about 5 million viewers, due to good word of mouth and the DVD's there are a lot more fans than there used to be, so, I dunno, I think that with a decent marketing campaign and no bad word of mouth it could probably make that.
