Re: The Official 2007 SPACEYS Thread

Ultimately, though, what does it matter?  It's a(n intentional) joke awards show anyway.

Yeah, but given that it is a joke award show,  David Tennant would be freakin hilarious on the Spaceys. I know it's probably too late for this year but perhaps before his tenure as the Doctor is over, Doctor Who could win a special award for being the longest running Sci Fi show of all time and they could get him and perhaps some of the other Doctors on?

In any case, I find it interesting that noone is defending the movie nominees. :D

Re: The Official 2007 SPACEYS Thread

Any plans to have the show available for DL off the main site after it airs? Always good fun this show, but I no longer cater to networks and tune in for their airtimes. I choose my own time to watch things now, so either they cater to me or I get it some other way (or I just don't bother with it at all).

I have to agree -- Where is SUPERNATURAL????

Also I saw Starbuck from Battlestar Galactica but where was Apollo?  (Jamie Bamber)

Starbuck is cool but Apollo is the best character on the show!

I don't think Lost or 24 should be here either --- What time are they on the space channel?? -- oh right they aren't on the Space channel lol

24 is set in the present.  I know it isn't realistic, but the people who make it, and most fans, seem to think it is.  In any case it isn't sf, fantasy, or horror.

No, it's not.  I believe this season is 2012 or 2016 or something like that.  You can find out for sure what year it is by searching the web.

Actually the year is 2029 and the CTU is the U.S. version of Japan's Section 9, and Bauer and the others are all cyborg cops.

Re: The Official 2007 SPACEYS Thread

Holy cats! No Doctor Who? No Jericho? No 4400? No Supernatural? Very few references to Stargate SG1, Smallville and BSG?

I don't mind seeing 24 nominated or anything, but WTF, mate?

And what are they talking about, "Favourite Characters You Love to Hate"? I adore each and every character nominated, and not because I love to hate them. I can see how Baltar and Lex would work but I have no idea who even though Vala would be an appropriate character to throw in there- she's not supposed to be someone we love to hate, she's supposed to be someone we just love. And I don't see why Caprica Six would be especially notable on that list either. What about Ba'al? Would he not have made a good choice for the category?

    *sigh*

Methinks this year isn't going to be great for the Spaceys.

Re: The Official 2007 SPACEYS Thread

I think it would be neat if viewers and Space powers that be could vote in the same categories and have the winners be based on that.  Keep the Space powers to decide things like special Spaceys or lifetime acheivements.  Just wondering has it ever been thought to have a Space viewers write in award and maybe have the powers pick which write in to use. Sure having viewers vote for some winners make this fun and interactive but by doing something like a write in could bring it to another level.

I of course have no way to know for sure, but I for one am of the opinion that what the Space "experts" (does anyone else have a chuckle when reading that roflmao) "vote" on has a lot to do with what celebs and such the Space interviewers get access to that particular year.Wink

Re: The Official 2007 SPACEYS Thread

Totally agree with you, especially on Stargate SG1 and Supernatural. And, on the characters you love to hate (love Vala and Caprica Six - don't see them as villains as they have many redeeming qualities).

And, what about Eureka and the Dresdin Files?
