Re: The Official 2007 SPACEYS Thread

I hear you, there were a few shows and actors missing and Supernatural was one of them, I love that show and some of the other Stargate actors were missing on the ballot. I wanted more categories to vote on as well.Sad

I was wondering where Supernatural was as well as 4400, Billy Campbell should have been nominated especially for character you love to hate and Doctor Who would have been a natural. Weren't Eccelston and Billie Piper nominated once and what about The Dead Zone? HMMMM this may not be my favorite Spacey viewing year.Hmm

Re: The Official 2007 SPACEYS Thread

Billie Piper was nominated as Rose for Best New Character last year, and Doctor Who was up for Favourite Show, I think.

Doctor Who really should receive a special award sometime soon. The season that started in March in the UK is season 29 of Doctor Who. What other show comes close?  (Michael Shanks has been calling Stargate the longest running SciFi show in interviews, but he's clearly wrong. ;) )  Next year, which will be season 30 would be an ideal time, oh, Powers that Be of the Spaceys. :)

Also there's an ongoing Canadian connection, with the creator, Sydney Newmann being Canadian, the TVM being filmed in Vancouver, and the new Doctor Who receiving funding from the CBC.

Ok.  So far only one person has mentioned EUREKA!  Where are all the EUREKA fans?  I agree that Vala is not hateable, not a villan but I voted for her just because I like her.  Go Vala!  Keep it interesting!  I think McKay would have fit the hate category better, but I still love watching him too.

Re: The Official 2007 SPACEYS Thread

I agree with much that's said above, especially in regards to 24 being nominated (that being said, I did vote for Jack).  I just hope that Space takes into account how many people want to see certain classic shows like Batman and Twilight Zone and add them to their rotation.  At least they are Sci-Fi related, unlike Relic Hunter and Alias.  I mean, the CRTC has forced the History channel to stop showing CSI: New York, couldn't they do something like that to Space if they're not careful?

    Just a quick question but...

     WHERE'S ALL THE SUPERNATURAL LOVE!??

The show had no nominations at all! LOST, which I happen to love was nominated in two different categories and that doesn't even come on the Space Channel. What up with those skeelzzz? I was very dissapointed because Supernatural is an effing awesome show.

Re: The Official 2007 SPACEYS Thread

The 4400 and Supernatural have probably been represented bigtime in previous years, if so that might be why they aren't this year. But I have to agree that Vala Mal Doran and Caprica 6 should not be in the hate category. And that 24 and Lost shouldn't even be included. Someone mentioned Jericho, but I don't see what that show has to do with space, sci-fi, fantasy, etc. It's a good show, but not the right genre.

    Naomi,

Any show that depicts the possibility of getting anywhere in Los Angeles by car over the timeframe of a single commercial break automatically counts as science fiction! Wink

Re: The Official 2007 SPACEYS Thread

Here's another disgruntled voice upset over the omission of Doctor Who from any of the categories. I'm not even going to bother to vote this year. I see no point in even watching the show when it airs. I mean, I understand that CHUM doesn't want to give any free publicity to a competitor (CBC) but this is nuts.

Re: The Official 2007 SPACEYS Thread

Now, to be fair (and keep in mind I am a huge fan of DW), the new "Doctor Who" was nominated in a couple of categories last year and barely placed. (Much to my dismay. I really wanted to see Billie Piper receive that award. Broken Heart) The folks putting together the Spaceys probably figured that, given "Who"'s almost complete no-show, it would be better to try a couple of other shows on the list instead. I'm just guessing here, though.

An awards show that eschews quality over popularity?  That would never happen, would it?

Hey How come no one voted Colonel Sheppard as a best actor? Or fav character! For that matter why was rodney Mckay only the one we were able to vote for?

Re: The Official 2007 SPACEYS Thread

MacKay was the only one to vote for because he is the only character on the show worth voting for.  He is the smartest, the bravest, and  the most courageous of all of the characters.  It also might have helped that he is the only Canadian character on the show.

Is he really the person we want representing us?  Zero people skills with an ego?  Oh well, still love em'!
