jhm wrote: | Okay if HHoF dose so much better why are so many people complaining about it. http://forums.spacecast.com/forums/272726/ShowPost.aspx 2 pages about 25-30 comments approximately 510 hits of people all saying how much they hate the HhoF, last time I checked. And yes yes I am aware that this is not many compared to the thousands of viewers but the one thing that I'm sure you are aware of mask is that for ever person that walks away unhappy with something there are about 1000 people behind him/her. |

Message boards are not an accurate representation of an audience for anything, be it a tv show, video game, whatever. Message boards are a vocal minority of the audience, not a proper sampling of it. Most people can't be bothered to post on message boards, really; your average viewer is silent. As for each person walking away unhappy with 1000 people likewise, I've seen that "statistic" quoted as having any number of people attached to it, whatever suits the "statistic" users agenda.
There are worlds out there where the sky is burning. And the sea's asleep and the rivers dream … People made of smoke and cities made of song … Somewhere there's danger, somewhere there's injustice, somewhere else the tea's getting cold!

I am seriously having a difficult time believing that Space can in any way claim a 5 million sample rate for any show. And the population rate is no doubt what 30 million? Come on, this is absolute bull.

Well maybe maybe not. I mean as I said originaly this channel dose go across Canada and I guess into parts of the upper america but thats just a guess and probably m. was just trying to shut me up but hey I'm with you on this one no way 5 million watch this channel.

Yes most people are silent either because they don't care or because what they want to say has already been said to death. But those people who don't complain have (supposedly) no right to complain about what is on. I don't believe in that myself but thats what people say.
Actuaaly this statistic is proven I worked for years at wonderland as a survey taker and the one fact that they beat into your head is that if... okay I'll use a a small number here it's just easier to calculate in my head... Okay lets say that 5 people have bad experense with space basied on programing or whatever... then they will tell two people then those people will go and look at the channel with the same judgement. Then those people will go off and tell two more friends each and bam theres about 100 people who think the same thing.
 I don't think so *ZAAAPPP*

Yes, the Sarah Jane Adventures, or Adventures of ... . In 1981 there was a pilot for 'K-9 and Company', the 'company' being Sarah Jane. That she did not get first billing is bizarre, but 1981 was better timing for the show.
|
|
Yes she did.
"Starring: Elisabeth Sladden
and John Leeson as the voice of K9"
watched it just this past weekend on BBCKids.

Space is not in the US. Space is a cable channel, not an over-the-air channel. And even if people make arrangements to pick it up, only Canada is going to count for ratings as they're the only people going to be given boxes monitoring their TV. If simply picking up a channel ment ratings half its cancelled shows would still be on the air.

I think I need to clarify the '5 million' statement- that is our 'reach'- that's how many people have access to SPACE.
We are on the same tier as TSN and Discovery, and Teletoon, so that is a very popular package.

Gallifrey wrote: | 100 people is a far cry from the 1000 you originally said. The last I heard a statistic on that theme was that there's 4 for every one. Granted, that was 10 years ago, people's communication methods have changed and become more prolific.
As for people being silent and "don't complain" not having a right to do so, these silent people just don't watch a channel, or are more prone to writing a letter to the station rather than posting on a message board. Mark has commented more than a few times over the years about letters Space recieves which often contrast with what the message board (as a whole) tends to write. And when you look at a show like Frightenstein, it seems the "silent" majority speak quite loud, seeing as the show does well, despite the angry posts on the board.

Okay 4-1 the numbers were what wonderland beat into my head for 4 years. Go figure wonderhell lies or used old data for training.
Let tors lol. who writes letters anymore in this age. Most of the world is hooked into the web so email and chat boards are good ways to gauge what the average veiwer likes and dislikes.
Oh yea M. is that for just the Toronto area. I think the package around here is a called the family package I have a home up in northern ont. the cable provider there is personia can't remember what the name of that package is
 I don't think so *ZAAAPPP*

I really hope you are kidding.
The anonymity of posting, the lack of background on poster's ages, gender, etc, the lack of guarantee of a distribution across society, make internet boards absolutely useless for determining anything other than what those few select who post want.
The very fact that the bulk of space watchers do not bother with this board despite it being promoted on air suggests that the denziens of the board are not your average viewer and are nonrepresentative.

I can see what jhm is trying to say don't really agree with it or with you jtp. This board has almost 5000 members on it. Now M.s estimations on how many people might be a little off 5 million is a little out there but 5000 people must count for something in terms of options. Just because space is on the same tier as those other channels don't mean people are watching it. I personally think that they can elaborate the users age & stuff. Okay heres why the minimum age to be a member is 13 on this board They require the new members to post there countrys & there DOB so age is easy to figure out then they ask the new members for there gender the province that they live in. That takes what half a second to do.
I was watching Dr. who on cbc a few weeks ago and now it looks like it up and vanished like a fart in the wind anybody know what happened to it. Was I watching a movie or is it just the end of a season that I saw. It was the one with the doc teaching a phyics class and the staff are aliens.

The Girl In The Fireplace was superb. The writing on this was absolutely fantastic, and the acting was first rate from everyone. I don't think the Doctor was reminded to not become too attached to mortals, he did, after all, risk everything to save Renette. I did love that look of anger though, when he was watching Renette's funeral carriage leave, it said a lot. I think his rule of not getting attached is a cynical one, a bitter one, and his expression there showed that. Tennant does an excellent job at saying things through expression, I've been noticing, he's far more animated than previous incarnations. I fully agree that this episode was inspired, it'll definitely go down as one of the best Doctor Who episodes of all time, for me.
