    Re: Random Who stuff

    lawgirl1:
That's the same feeling I got after reading the article. At the very least, it seems Tennant will stay on for the specials scheduled to air in 2009. As a side note, maybe it was just the way I read the article, but I got the impression that Catherine Tate & Tennant maybe don't get along that well. However, maybe it was just me reading something into the article.

Reading articles in Doctor Who Magazine I'm getting the vibe that they get along famously. Of course, the magazine would try to put a positive spin on things, but unless they're actually making up bald-faced lies...

Also, watching David Tennant's behind the scenes video diaries for The Runaway Bride, they come across as very chummy and enjoying working with each other.

    Praised be the Doctor.

    DougAScott:

I've seen a couple of people mention a "messiah" scene in articles/posts/whatnots, but then no other detail on which scene they meant. I have watched the special, and I'm still not getting which scene they're referring to.

I think they're talking about the scene where the 2 hosts fly him up to the bridge.

I thought, in 'Last of the time Lords' when he started glowing and flying on his own (due to everyone chanting his name) he looked like more of a messiah than in the special, but I don't remember any hoopla about that scene when it happened.

Oh, and in one of Davids 'rebuttals' about Catherines comments, he says he was on the phone with her, basically saying what are you telling people, I can't get the reporters off of me now. So I think they're buds of a sort.

In other news, Billie Piper got married on the weekend (again) During her interview, she says she doesn't think she can do the Rose character any more. She said that because (possible S4 spoiler) it looks like the next Doctor lite episode will have Rose, Donna and Martha all teamng up to help the absent Doctor in some way She says she's been practicing in the bathroom mirror.. Also. I believe Steven Moffat will be doing a 2 parter in season 4.

    Re: Praised be the Doctor.

I have not seen the Voyage of the damned, but looking forward to it.

I am trying to avoid season 4 spoilers... so please be careful!

I am fairly sure that Steve Moffatt is writing a two parter... I'm sure that the LA whocon in a few weeks will have plenty more details...

Oh, duh. Of course. I guess I didn't find the Host scene jarring or anything. I really didn't give it a second thought.

As for the Last of the Time Lords scene, if I heard any criticism about it, the Doctor was usually compared to Tinkerbelle instead of Christ. "If we all wish real hard..." Again, though, it didn't bother me as it was actually set up previously with talk of how the Archangel system worked. The "gun" introduced in act 1 was "fired" in the final act.

And that spoiler for that particular episode? I am so looking forward to that one. Big Smile

Yea, me too. That'll be a good one. Big Smile

Just an update, I finally watched Last of the Time Lords with the 'pod cast' commentary on the DVD. Gotta say, if someone didn't TELL me it wasn't the original commentary, I'd never know, it sounds just like any other commentary to me. Now I'm wondering why they bother to do two of them.

    Re: Praised be the Doctor.

Watched Voyage last night, it was good fun. Really cheesy, but fun all the same. I did rather find the "messianic" scene irksome at first, but I laughed it off as it was clearly meant as a big joke (the finger snapping and the Host fists in the air - hilarious). This one had a rather unexpected body count for Doctor Who, really hammering home the nature of the position the Doctor was in, not only here but as a traveler in general. Kylie was very good, as I expected her to be, but I'm glad she's not sticking around (yet). And so it seems that this Doctor only travels with pretty women, not old bald men. At least he's admitted to it!

There are worlds out there where the sky is burning. And the sea's asleep and the rivers dream … People made of smoke and cities made of song … Somewhere there's danger, somewhere there's injustice, somewhere else the tea's getting cold!

Yeah I read an article (can't remember if it was on the internet or in a Sci-Fi mag) that Piper apparently was practising in front of the mirror in her home - trying to get into the Rose character - and she couldn't do it. So it seems that her return in Season 4 will be a brief one. IMHO that's a good thing because while I have nothing against the character, it's time for the Doctor & the show to move beyond Rose.

    The Doctor in April perhaps?

    Just found this little note...

Looks like it’ll be a great year for Doctor Who once again with Season Four to be aired on Sci-Fi from April 2008 which this time around is much closer to the UK TV scheduling.  The new season will also be shown on BBC America in the Summer and PBS in the Fall.  Season highlights include no less than three companions for The Doctor and a multitude of guest appearances.

Hey, if SciFi is getting Doctor Who sooner, we should be getting it too.

David tennant interviewed by Catherine Tate

I guess the big deal with Chain reaction is that they find 2 actors and one interviews the other.

This one is Catherine interviewing David. There are no spoilers and it;s lots of fun, just go here and click listen again in the column on the right. You need the realplayer plugin to hear it.

I listened to it.   It is hysterically funny.   I was laughing loud enough that my husband came in to see what was so funny - and he stayed to listen to the rest of the interview.

It is really clear that Catherine Tate and David Tennant are good friends.   And that they are both very funny people.  Wink

Well, I'm happy to see that somebody was paying attention. Glad you liked it.

Is there any news yet on when CBC will be airing series four?  Summer again presumably?  I find that they're pretty terrible at getting the word out on airdates for both Doctor Who and Torchwood.

Re: when CBC will be airing series four?

I watched the Christmas Special, and noticed that the credits at the end brought no mention of CBC in them. Same with Series 2 of Torchwood. No CBC credit. What that means....who knows

I can't find a firm date for when it's starting on BBC let alone CBC. CBC doesn't even list season 3 on their page yet, no hope on finding info on season 4 yet.
