Is there any news yet on when CBC will be airing series four?  Summer again presumably?  I find that they're pretty terrible at getting the word out on airdates for both Doctor Who and Torchwood.

I can't find a firm date for when it's starting on BBC let alone CBC. CBC doesn't even list season 3 on their page yet, no hope on finding info on season 4 yet.

Yeah I really find that strange. I keep going back to the BBC Doctor Who site and it keeps saying that the show will return in Spring 2008. That could be anytime between Mar 21 and June 21. I think it usually starts just after Easter but if that was the case this year you would think that the BBC would have updated the site by now. As for Torchwood because of the lack of decent TV right now I just decided to download the episodes (don't worry I won't give any details away). I'll still watch them in the fall on CBC to make sure the show gets good ratings but watching them now gives me something to do until the TV schedule gets more normalized.

let's just step into the wayback machine

Here's a nifty article in the Telegraph about some of the options that were being considered for the Doctor Who show during it's creation 45 years ago. I'm glad it worked out like it did, I don't think it would have been near as popular if some of those ideas had survived.

    Re: Air Dates

The BBC and CBC still haven't set any dates for Doctor Who or Sarah Jane, but Sci-Fi channel has.

Sarah Jane starts on April 11 and Doctor Who on April 18 starting with the Christmas special 'Voyage of the damned'

BTW, Battlestar galactica will start on Sci-Fi April 4.

Wow, that first one is all new scenes. I wonder where it came from.

BBC plans to show that theater promo on TV Sat mar 22 in prep for the series starting. If I read it right, it might also be posted on the web site.

    The... weakest link

This is the special Doctor Who edition of the weakest link. This is included as an extra on one of the DVD sets. It's lots of fun to watch and you'd never guess who wins.

    part 1

    part 2

Edited:  actually, I guess this has 6 parts. They're all easy to find.

The BBC has confirmed that series 4 will start on April 5 !!! That's just 2 weeks YAY!

The CBC on the other hand doesn't seem to know that series 4 exists.  BOO

That makes sense if the BBC is going to start airing "Doctor Who" on April 5 because the season finale of "Torchwood" is going to air on April 4 (it sucks that I have to wait almost two weeks for that episode because Series 2 has been great but somehow I will manage). Presumably there will be something in the finale that will somehow show up in Series 4 of Doctor Who.

Just a head's up for people who have cable/satellite. The new bold channel from CBC (formerly Country Canada) will start airing previous seasons of new "Doctor Who" starting on Wednesday, April 2.

    The Doctor is in

      David Tennant: The good doctor

The most powerful actor in television is also, by all accounts, the nicest bloke in showbiz

I have to admit, David is not only great as the Doctor, but he does seem to go above and beyond what's required as an actor. I can't remember ever actually being impressed by an actor before, David may be the first.

Good article, lots of background and no spoilers. By the way, it's hinted that he WILL be back for another full season in 2010.

Russell T Davies tells Andrew Pettie about the Doctor's new companion

Here is an article about Russel, some history and future plans. DOES contain some season 4 spoilers.

Only 5 more days till the premier. can hardly wait.

There is a new trailer on the BBC site. It does have a few spoilery hints in it.

Why do shows in the UK start at times like 6:20 ????

    BoozySmurf:

because it airs on another cable channel. The only episodes available to Space would be the first 2 doctors, which Space already aired and had horrible ratings for.

It aired here at 7AM on a weekday morning.   What sort of ratings do yu expect it to get?

    Re: Dr. who on cbc

The new Dr. Who is a brilliant series, and SPACE did try to get it.

CBC had it all sown up, which was too bad, because I'd love to be sure I could watch it.

I have chosen to go the DVD box set route, so I have to avoid spoilers<G>, but it is a great way to go.

I will always support the CBC broadcasts, because I want them to continue to fund the show.

Do you mean that there is question into whether CBC is even going to air it this year?  I've been wondering because I noticed at the end of Torchwood eps this season and "Voyage of the Damned" that they're not listed as a co-producer (or whatever the title was) anymore.

I'm just continually confused by them, I still haven't decided to whether to go the torrent route this weekend or wait for the broadcast, and if CBC continues to say absolutely nothing, I'm not going to wait risking only to be disappointed and spoiled.....Bought the DVDs last year but at $100 for a season can't really afford to do that again this year. Stick out tongue

I emailed CBC, I'll let you know if they bother to respond.

    Re: Dr. who on cbc

Unfortunately wouldn't count on it though- I (and I know a few others who did  in the past few months as well) emailed them around February-ish asking about Torchwood and they didn't respond (to any of us).  Hopefully you'll have better luck.  Smile
