    Updated Forums 2.0

As you can see we have updated the forums.

Please post here for any issues or questions.

Some things off the bat..PMs work.

    Search works

You can subscribe to a forum section and you will get an e-mail whenever someone posts in it.

tags are like meta tags...you can add a tag to identify your post or for reference.

once you click on a tag...bottom of a post it will display search results of all tags with that tag name

if you are signed in and you goto the main page of the forums you will see a box on the right that shows you the most popular tags.

    - Click on forums tab for now not Home tab....we will be removig the home tab

    Re: Updated Forums 2.0

forums contain a 'Favorites' menu button that allows you mark members, forums, and posts as favorites. To add a member as a favorite, simply click the 'Favorites' menu button in a post by a user you want to add as a favorite, and click on the menu item, 'Add [user name] as a favorite'.

When you are viewing your profile, you will be able to see which members you have added as favorites as well as which members have added you as their favorites.

    Re: Updated Forums 2.0

    1. Private Message from contact menu

While viewing a message from the person you want to send a private message to, click on the 'Contact' menu button, and click on the 'Send [user] a private message' menu item.

    2. Private message from profile page

While viewing the profile of the person you want to send a private message to, click on the 'Send [user] a private message' link.

    Private Message Form

Both the previously mentioned steps will take you to the private message form, where the person you are sending the message to is displayed under the text 'To :' along with a subject and message text area. When you are ready to send your private message, click on the 'Post' button at the bottom of the form.

    Private Message Listing

Once you have posted your private message, the message recipient will see it displayed in their private message listing when they view their private messages page. To view your private message listing, click on the 'Inbox' link, located at the top right-hand corner of any page.

    Re: Updated Forums 2.0

3S, when I use the "show unread topics" mode, ( aka http://forums.spacecast.com/forums/TopicsNotRead.aspx ) the titles come up as follows:

Would you stay with a cylon?
Last reply by 3storms, Today, 1:05 PM

It used to also have which subforum it came from, ie:

Would you stay with a cylon?
Last reply by 3storms, in Battlestar Galactica Today, 1:05 PM

Is there any way you can change that back?  It was very handy knowing which section of the board each post came from. ;)

    Thanks

    Kurt

    Re: Updated Forums 2.0

    I love the new look.

I also like the feature of having favorite posters or threads but now that I've selected some of them, I don't know how to retreive them.  I'll have to go back up to your previous posts and have a look.

I'm still a bit lost with the new format, yet I was lost with the previous format also since the last update.  Yes, I'm a bit computer illiterate.Embarrassed

Looooooooooooooove the new emoticons options!  It's much better.

I tried out both views.  I prefer the flat view from the other one.  I like seeing the all the posts and just scroll down as I want.

I keep looking for the scroll down menu to chose "active topics".  Am I blind and I just haven't found it or do I need to go back to "forum" and select from there?

Thanks for the updates.  I'm really glad that I have text options again and emoticons (because I didn't have any since my computer automatically updated to IE7).

Keep up the good work!Yes  O.K. that sounded really corny but heck...what do you expect from someone who's called "purrfectkitty"Stick out tongue

I'm going to go snoop some more on the board now.

    Re: Updated Forums 2.0

Well, as I mentioned in the General Discussions sub-forum(in the Hulk Smash thread started by TheTranslator), popup blockers have to be disabled every time you want to use a smiley. Also, it appears that post counts were affected(but that is not a big deal).

However, there is one thing that I would like to know. Permanent bannings(IPs and the like)? Are they a reality now?

Lucie, I am glad to see that you are able to post smileys and use quotes again. Hopefully that will be the case for the others(Jadescape, JHM, etc.)

    Re: Updated Forums 2.0

    Oh...I forgot...

I don't know if other people have this...but when I change from one page to another, my format changes slightly for example the text goes of the screen at the top off the page where it says "Signed in as..." and "Help" and "Inbox".  Is this just my IE7?

Just thought I'd shout this out.

Well, I'm testing the quotes now.  And yes, I'm really glad the smileys are working.  I don't know if jhm changed back to IE6 but if he did "nothing" like I did (I didn't dare change too much stuff on my computer) I think it will be o.k.. now.

As for the banning of certain people...What, you don't want to chat with "wazzzz-his-face" anymore?Stick out tongue  I was higly entertained from your passionate discussions with that person.  Ah...shiv...I'm just teasing you.

Mine has stayed consistent since I started posting in the new forums, but I still have IE6. Sorry I can't help you more.

Perhaps it has something to do with your font selections on your Windows?

Since your teasing has hurt me so, I believe it is only fair that you buy me a popsicle at the next TorontoTrek.

    Just kidding, my friend.

    Deleted PMs?

Apparently all of the PMs that I had saved in my mailbox have been deleted(save 2 of them). I know that some of them had not worked, but a couple of them DID. Why did they get deleted?
