Julie Benz nominated for Satellite Award 2006 - She Won!!

"Flags of of Our Fathers," "Babel" and "Dreamgirls" are off to a good start as the Oscar race heats up. The two dramas and musical led the Satellite Awards nominations in the motion picture categories with a combined 29 nods. In the television categories, "Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip" and "Ugly Betty" each picked up four noms. The International Press Academy’s 11th annual kudofest takes place December 17 at Le Meridien Hotel in Beverly Hills.

ACTRESS IN A SUPPORTING ROLE IN A SERIES, MINI-SERIES OR MOTION PICTURE MADE FOR TELEVISION

Vanessa Williams — "Ugly Betty" (ABC)
    Elizabeth Perkins — "Weeds" (Showtime)
    Jean Smart — "24" (Fox)
    Fionnula Flannagan — "Brotherhood" (Showtime)
    Julie Benz — "Dexter" (Showtime)

Laurie Metcalf — "Desperate Housewives" (ABC)

Anyone here a Dexter fan. I just can't watch these shows like CSI, ER or any show with blood and guts, but strangely with Dexter I've been hooked on completely. The writing is fantastic, the whole concept is very bizarro, the characters , and of course, Julie Benz. Costuming is great too, Julie Benz as Lara Croft.

"This is ridiculous, I could be killing him right now!"

Yeah, I'm absolutely loving the show. And I'd have to say that a nomination for Julie Benz is well deserved for the work she's been doing in the show.

*waves hand*   Big Dexter fan here.

After Deadwood finished (*sob*) I was searching for another well written, intelligent show - and lo and behold what should appear?  Dexter.  (Not that I wouldn't be dancing in the streets if Deadwood did get its 2 two-hour movies.  Al Swearingen has left a wincing empty hole in my heart - and not a knife wound either Wink)

Julie Benz more than deserves the nomination for her role in Dexter, and since the show has already been renewed for next year (how odd.  A show I like not struggling for renewal!) next season is looking promising.

Although... a show with a serial killer as cop as the protagonist is not a premise that I would ever have considered appealing before.

Guess it is all in the execution.   Big Smile

What's this Dexter all about? I presume it's not the 1 about his Laboratory.

That is great.  She really earned it with her role.   I can't wait to see where she (and the writers) take her character next year.  Big Smile
