Re: The Official 2007 SPACEYS Thread

Having only played one of the entries for the Game category, I'm interested in which were not FPS games.  I can imagine Zelda as being non-FPS, but if you put Slasher or Spellcaster in the place of Shooter, than Oblivion is FPS as it gets.  The addition of a built-in walkthrough and the removal of politics, guild interaction, meaningful choice and consequence, NPC dialogue and chance of failure made this horrible addition to a great series, an RPG in name only.

I did not know that. I assumed Oblivion was a RPG based on the descriptions of it I've heard - I haven't played it myself. Zelda's a fantasy quest, just like the other Zelda games - my husband plays that one.

I'm quite new to this site, so maybe I'm missing something, but why wasn't Supernatural (or any of the cast) included in several of the categories it should've been eligible for.

And regarding movies, what about "Lady In The Water" or "The Illusionist" (and I'm sure I've missed a few others as well). Maybe there was a limited number that could be chosen, but I really enjoyed both those movies and was sad to see they weren't included.

Re: The Official 2007 SPACEYS Thread

I can't believe that Doctor Who didn't get any nominations!  It dominated the BAFTAs this past year, and for the second year running, 3 episodes have been nominated for Hugos (The Girl in the Fireplace, School Reunion and Army of Ghosts/Doomsday.).  And since when does 24 count as a Sci Fi show? I could almost understand Doctor Who being passed over in favour of Supernatural or Jericho, but 24?  Ditto for Jack Bauer in the favourite character category.

Also can anyone explain why Cars and Happy Feet are elligible for the movie nomination?  That seems like a huge stretch, and with the movie field is so strong this year, I can't imagine they're going to get that many votes.

Re: The Official 2007 SPACEYS Thread

Yeah, good point - no Doctor Who or Jericho either, yet 24 makes it - go figure. It's not like the pickings for actual genre shows are slim these days. Confused

Re: The Official 2007 SPACEYS Thread

How disappointing -- Favourite TV Character? Where's Daniel Jackson? I'm all for Rodney, but c'mon...

And are you kidding me? No SG-1 or Supernatural in Favourite TV show? Christ on a crutch...

I know I sound like a whiner, but couldn't Space have shown the dearly departed a bit of love, rather than a bit of "love to hate"?

How can you have a category like "Favorite character you love to hate" and not nominate HRG - Mr. Bennett from Heroes. That is just a disgrace.

I know it's been said by a few people already, but it deserves repeating: I've VERY disappointed that Supernatural isn't nominated in any of the categories. Boo. Double Boo.No

Re: The Official 2007 SPACEYS Thread

Ok lets see while the 10th wounder podcast runs in the backround
lets do our spaceys votes shall we.

1.) Fave Character you love to hate: Baltar hands down I mean come on

2.) Fave TV Character: Torn between Starbuck or Hiro, hmmmmm Starbuck or Hiro

3.) Fave Kick-ass Character: Truth betold I could care less, Eyes closed random click. Hmm Selene

4.) Fave Classic TV Show: Battlestar or Batman? Well cheese is cheese. Battlestar

5.) Fave TV Show: Now it gets tricky, 3 of my fave shows Battlestar, Heroes, Lost. Not sure

6.) Fave Movie: Pan's Labyrinth or Childern of Men? Damn not sure again.

7.) Fave Video Game: ZELDA ZELDA ZELDA!!!!

Now that I've got that done I have a question
I can understand having two different sets of catagorys
for viewers & space staff but it seems like the catagorys
that I really wanted to vote in are space exclusive & thats just not cool man.

Re: The Official 2007 SPACEYS Thread

They have an interesting variety of categories and nominees.  But I am surprised they abandoned the 'space' i.e. science fiction/fantasy/horror theme.  We have secret agent nominees, war, even dancing penguins.  Weird.  And Vala - were we supposed to hate Vala? I thought she was comic relief.  It should be a good show if only the fantasy/sf/horror themed stuff wins.  And I add my vote to giving a special Spacey to Kevin Spacey.  ;)

Re: The Official 2007 SPACEYS Thread

I am curious I posted this in a reply of mine but no one commented but does anyone think they could of split the movie category so there is not so many slections.  Perhaps if not family versus non family or maybe into different themes/genres?

OK so let me get this straight. "24" is quality sci-fi/fantasy and supernatural isn't? WTF?!
