Re: The Official 2007 SPACEYS Thread

    Here are my votes.

Love to hate: Baltar. No question. James Callis is just phenomenal at making a bad guy fascinating.

TV character: Hiro. Again, no question. How can you not just love Hiro?

    Kick-ass: Didn't vote as I haven't seen these movies.

Classic TV: I never really watched much classic sci-fi so I have no opinion, but I cast a vote for Buck Rogers on behalf of my husband's cheesy childhood nostalgia.

TV show: Heroes. BSG was a close second and I had voted for BSG the last couple of years, but their third season wasn't as strong. Whereas Heroes is just putting it over the top every week.

Movie: Didn't vote - would you believe I haven't seen a single one of those movies? I think the last thing I saw in theatres was the final installment of LOTR, and I only rent the occasional DVD. But most of those are on my "to watch when I get around to it" list, so I suspect I'll have an opinion in a few years.

Video game: Well, my fave genre of adventure games is unrepresented as usual, so I cast a vote for my husband's current obsession, Zelda.

Re: The Official 2007 SPACEYS Thread

    I voted for:

Favorite Character you love to hate: Vala ( I don't watch Stargate, will get around to it one day. You can guess why I voted the way I did).

Favorite TV Character: Kate Austin (Was looking for none of the above)

    Favorite Kick-Ass Character: V

Favorite Classic TV Show: Batman (I don't see the point of this category with Star Trek in it)

    Favorite TV Show: Lost

    Favorite Movie: V For Vendetta

    Favorite Video Game: Oblivion

Even though Trek is almost certainly going to win, and I actually like it just a little more, I also cast my vote for Batman. Mainly because I want to see Adam West accepting a Spacey.

    AKalel:

I am curious I posted this in a reply of mine but no one commented but does anyone think they could of split the movie category so there is not so many slections.  Perhaps if not family versus non family or maybe into different themes/genres?

Splitting the movie category into genres might be fun.  And in the favorite classic show category, since the trekkies/ trekkers will most likely ensure a star trek win every time, the spacey people could make a 'favorite star trek series' category, and leave the 'classic series' category to the other shows.

Re: The Official 2007 SPACEYS Thread

Well I am very disappointed with the whole "SPACEYS" nominations. I thought SPACE: THE IMAGINATION station was going to be Canada's source for Science Fiction? Now it's Canada's source for Science Fiction, Fantasy, And Whatever Crap Moses Has Deemed Unfit For Broadcast On Other CHUM Channels? I believe I am the only person in Canada NOT surprised that Stargate SG1 and Supernatural are missing. How can you people be surprised at these omissions? This is the "best of science fiction and fantasy" but they are broadcasting The Hilarious House Of Frightenstein? How lame is that? Final Destination? Thirteen Ghosts? Adventure Inc? Relic Hunter? Night Stalker? These shows do not even remotely fit into either Science Fiction or Fantasy categories so how can anyone claim to be surprised that actual Science Fiction shows are missing from the lists? The only reason I keep watching SPACE these days is it's the only station in Canada that airs the new Battlestar Galactica at a regular time slot. Before people get carried away with a flame war please remember I grew up with Billy Van Billy Van Billy Van, and Vincent Price reading the stories. The Hilarious House Of Frightenstein is a good childrens show and deserves to be on the air, just not on SPACE.

I agree. why is Supernatural never nominated for anything? It's the best show on television. Im disapointed.

Re: The Official 2007 SPACEYS Thread

I agree too, Supernatural should have been included.

And please can someone give Richard Dean Anderson another segment for something. I thought he and his wackiness were the highlights of the previous years. He's hilarious!

Re: The Official 2007 SPACEYS Thread

24: While I agree that it's not the best choice, I'm reminded of that Desperate Houswives Kufala a year or two ago with a bunch of people arguing that it was genre (It's narrated by a dead woman) vs. those who argued it wasn't.

In defense of 24's inclusion, the show does take place in a terrorism ridden (on the verge of becoming post-apocalyptic) future, features techonology that is seemingly beyond present capabilities, and centers on a seemingly invincible and invulnerable hero.  Sounds awfully genre like to me.

It's also very popular, and, actually seems to grow in popularity the longer it is on, and happens to be one of the best shows on TV

Not the best choice, but I can see how it made the list.

Ultimately, though, what does it matter?  It's a(n intentional) joke awards show anyway.

Re: The Official 2007 SPACEYS Thread

24 is set in the present.  I know it isn't realistic, but the people who make it, and most fans, seem to think it is.  In any case it isn't sf, fantasy, or horror.

Re: The Official 2007 SPACEYS Thread

24 is nominated?  Well I guess just makes the entire Spacey concept bogus then.  It's not like there isn't plenty of sci-fi TV shows out there.

Re: The Official 2007 SPACEYS Thread

Here's another vote of being disappointed to see 24 as a nominee.  And why are action flicks in the movie categories?  This is for the Spacey awards.

     Sigh.

I'll cling to my Starbuck and Buck Rogers and other nice sci-fi esque stuff and hope that next year the people who put the Spaceys together will do it right.

No, it's not.  I believe this season is 2012 or 2016 or something like that.  You can find out for sure what year it is by searching the web.
