We should probably start a new s3 thread soon, eh? Now that s2 is in reruns on UPN and airing on Sun TV, it might help keep spoiler confusion to a minimum (since we can't edit the topic of this thread).

    Yup! Wanna do the honour?

Sure, what the hey - consider it done! Wink [;)]

Apparently they plan to stream the first episode a week early (this Tuesday). I'm hoping someone torrents it asap for us poor Canadians. Can't wait!

Oh, how sweet would that be! I am so excited, got my bittorrent client all fired up. Closing in on a week now! Smile [:)]

This is for the first episode, or just a teaser?

Edit: not that I can view it anyway; this computer has a ridiculous number of codec issues. I'm jealous. Tongue Tied [:S]

It's the whole season 3 opener, commercial free. Works great.

I'll say nothing more except: wheeeeee!

Hmm [^o)] Re: Veronica Mars Season 3 - Episode 1: Welcome Wagon (Spoilers)

    Well, what did people think?

Like last season, I felt that the episode started off slowly, and then began to pick up steam about halfway through. Not a bad beginning, and they've hit us with the first mystery at the end (again, like last year) -- even though it has been simmering since about 2/3 of the way through last season.

    Some random thoughts:

    • I guess Charisma's looking for work again, huh?

    • Veronica and Logan: will it last more than part of the season, this time 'round?

    • Put up your hand if you thought something was going to go wrong with Keith's trip. Put up both hands if you saw it happening when he left to go to his car. (Of course, I didn't see that coming...)

    • Great to see Mac in the opening credits.

    • So, will Vinnie end up rescuing Keith?

    • In hindsight, the name Donald Fagan is a bit of a giveaway, isn't it? (Even if you are a Steely Dan fan...)

More thoughts if they occur to me.

Re: Veronica Mars Season 3 - Episode 1: Welcome Wagon (Spoilers)

Good episode. Seems like they're piling in less than they did in last year's premiere, which is probably a good thing if they want to bring in new viewers.

And yet, still lots of mysteries to ponder. We still don't know the real reason Keith stood up Veronica - it can't have been just for the money. Looking forward to seeing that one unfold.

I already knew the Hearst rapist would be the first of the season's three big mysteries, so that wasn't a surprise. And I'm feeling fiercely protective of Mac right now. I have this awful feeling.

And yes, both my hands are up. Stick out tongue [:P]

What did folks think of the new opening credit sequence? Not quite as catchy as the old mix, but I think it works. A little darker, more mature, scarier - and goes well with the redone graphics.

Re: Veronica Mars Season 3 - Episode 1: Welcome Wagon (Spoilers)

I like the opening sequence. It's still catchy. Although ratings weren't great yet again. Sad [:(]

I'm thinking Mac will end up helping D*ck somehow. As a friend. He needs some. That last scene with Logan was really well played.

Keith is way too smart to have walked into that one. I hope he's not getting soft. Buh-bye Kendall.

Overall, not a bad start. Next week looks great.

Re: Veronica Mars Season 3 - Episode 1: Welcome Wagon (Spoilers)

Am I the only one creeped out by D!ck's "I really screwed up" when he showed up at Logan's hotel room? Like he could have been involved with the rape? Same evening and all, no? Or do I have all my timelines messed up already and it's only the one ep.  The way it was looking, I was really scared that Mac would be the girl with the shaved head. Could still happen, I just hope the writers don't go there - she's already been through the ringer last season.

I miss the Veronica and Logan panting at each other, not just the quick scene showing them afterwards, lol. I feel cheated, ROFL!

Didn't see the Kendall thing happening at all - still a bit of a mystery about the double cross. It would help if I remembered that guy more from last season, but oh well. I'm also thinking the other PI guy will eventually get to Keith, since he was listening right at the time everything happened. Or was that pen just a locator and not a bug?

Guess they didn't let Veronica rewrite that exam she skipped out on to go see the trial verdict, as she ended up at Hearst after all.

I'm hoping that was a patented Rob Thomas red herring. D*ck's a doofus, but you gotta love the clueless levity he brings.

And a thousand-fold ditto on getting only the post-game show with Logan and Veronica. Two years of build-up, c'mon, throw us a bone. So to speak. Embarrassed [:$]

Hmm [^o)] Re: Veronica Mars Season 3 - Episode 2: My Big Fat Greek Rush Week (Spoilers)

    Well...

Keith's big adventure comes to a slam bang conclusion, and Veronica -- once again -- jumps first and asks questions later. (Although Veronica wouldn't be Veronica if she didn't have someone mad at her, would she?)

We didn't get any clues to the mystery (or did we? With VM, these things are often more obvious in hindsight...) but more mystery, but Wallace showed his smarts, and Mac made a new friend.

A seemingly uneventful episode, but it may have ramifications for later in the season.

    Meanwhile...

Entertainment Weekly (October 13th issue) has a small review of VM, Season 3, and it ain't good.

The headline? "When Good Shows Go Bad"

    Some quotes:

"We can't help recalling the time another complicated show about a cool, crime-fighting gal, Alias, tried in vain to stretch beyond its culty ratings by going all new-viewer-friendly on us ... [Veronica Mars] now bears similar signs of desperation: a rushed (and dull) resolution to last season's cliff-hanger, a super-simplified premiere mystery, a heavier emphasis on classroom antics (to make it more compatible with its Gilmore Girls lead-in?), a sorority-infiltration plot that leads suspiciously to lower-cut necklines for our beloved heroine."

"Please, CW, steer Ms. Mars back toward the layered mysteries and noirish attitude we've always loved; this time, Veronica's life hangs in the balance."

Re: Veronica Mars Season 3 - Episode 2: My Big Fat Greek Rush Week (Spoilers)

I like the fact that they're never afraid to show Veronica making mistakes. She screws up - a lot - she's not Kid Superhero. And when you pair that with her dad screwing up, it just makes the relationship between them that much more believable.

This was a kind of slow episode. I don't doubt something in it will be important later, but it just felt like there was a lot less than usual happening. I wonder if that was deliberate, to try and ease new viewers in before hitting them full force with the speed at which this show normally moves. And on that note, I can't disagree with the point EW makes about the resolution to last season's cliffhanger. I hope the sale of that painting was not the end of it; there just still isn't enough of a reason here for Keith to have left Veronica hanging the way he did. Hopefully there'll be more revealed as they explore the Fitzpatrick situation more in depth.

One thing I missed: My copy had a sound glitch close to the end, when Veronica is at home looking at her laptop, talking with her dad about the things she's "learning" so far in school. She makes reference in the narration to some clues about the rapist mystery, but my audio's missing - can anyone tell me what she said?

ETA: Still no Weevil? Come on, I want to see what happened to him! Surprise [:O]

I think it would be good if Veronica figured out a way to fix the problem that her article caused. That's a pretty major screw up and accomplishes nothing but make someone else's life unbearable.

I've deleted the episode, so can't check the narration. One thing I remember was that she said someone had access to the girls keys, but she didn't add that the girls purses were taken away at the frat house. Seems to me that it was a good opportunity to get or copy a key, looking forward to see if I'm  guessing right.

They also didn't mention anything new about ***. Last we saw in the previous episode was him very distressed and saying he screwed up bad.
