Can anyone out there tell me how to purchase Season 1 & 2 on DVD.? Is it available on the net or can it be purchased at retail outlets?

I'm going to start by assuming that you're asking about regular DVD, not HD-DVD (as far as I can tell, only season 1 is out in HD yet). 

You should be able to find it at most big media retailers.  If you're lucky, you'll even be able to get a two-for deal on the two halves of season 2 (which, for some obscene reason, was split into two packages).  I can't really recommend any specific retailer, as I don't know where you are, but for us Toronto-bound Canadians, Best Buy and Future Shop have been pretty good.  Failing that, you might try (again, in Canada) someplace online like CD-Plus or DVD Boxoffice.

OK, DVD Boxoffice won't sell you season 1.  And they have no deal on the two halves of season 2 (neither do CD-Plus, although they do have season 1 in stock).   I bought mine at Best Buy/Future Shop, and at the time (around January this year, maybe February) they had the two halves of s2 bundled... they might not anymore.

If ypu can hold on til S4 is out you might get a better deal.

Now I'm not sure about other markets outside Canada/US but I'll bet you anything come sometime in 2009 You'll see a box set of BSG with added bonuses in:

BSG HD BOX SET S1-4 with special interviews, making of BSG and such

BSG Blue Ray S1-4 same as above

BSG Regular version S1-4 same as above

As to the price I'm not sure but suspect around $100 or so

You can buy season 1and 2 at wall mart .You can even get the special offer  of season 2 and season 2.5 together (it is cheaper).Or you can wait for the special package that would probably come after season4.Season 2 was split in 2 disc thats why you have season 2 and 2.5.Dont buy them separetly it will cost you more money .If you dont find them  at wall mart you can try others store who sell dvd,but it is cheaper at wall mart.

I was in HMV today (Toronto, Yonge and Dundas) and they has Seasons 1, 2 (Both, seperate and togather)

At the moment, the rumour (from tv-guide) is spring 2008.  It's already out on region 2, but with no extras at all.

Ok so I went to buy the first two seasons on DVD but I couldn't find them in the store. I did find a couple of DVDs that were on sale at Best Buy for next to nothing. I got:

 

Southland Tales

Revolver

Steep

The Lost

and Conspiracy

 

I only spent like $50 on all those films.  

Not calling you a liar and its not that I know any beter but where did you look in the stores I know sometimes for some of the more popular tv shows they do not keep them in the shelfs with the other tv shows but create special displays.  Also did you check with a cashier or customer service person to see if they had some in the back. As of a few weeks ago I know Future Shop had the mini series in there 2 for $10 bins.

I find it's pretty hit and miss. Sometime the shops have them sometimes they don't. They aren't popular enought to have a bunch of copies of the older box sets but they usually try to stock one of each. If someone bought it then it could be a few weeks before it gets restocked. That's how Future shop works at least and it's really irritating. Been trying to get a few shows from them but the same thing. I'm not sure if they are just feeding me BS though but it always seems I go in and some bought what I wanted earlier in the day. So I'm told it will be back in stock in 2 weeks then show up and the same thing. It's probably true though.

Hmm. Every time I go looking for something at Futureshop I can usually find it.  They only don't have stuff if what you're looking for is hard to come by like say Farscape.  But BSG is always in stock, at least at the one I go to.
