    Re: Serenity: Special Edition DVD

Nice cover, looking forward to adding this to my Firefly/Serenity collection.

Black must be the new Black for this season in graphic arts. The Heroes cover is similar in style also, black.

You finally caught a shiney pokemon!!  Congrats, you have a 1/8192 chance of catching one.
I may see the world in black and white but I prefer my movies to be in amazing Technicolor.

Will Serenity be playing on Space anytime in the near future?

    Re: Serenity… onwards and upwards!

People continue to discover the show/movie.

My son had a friend over, and asked if the friend wanted to see the "best space battle ever." (My son's words.) He showed him Serenity.

The friend was so impressed, his family ended up watching the movie, and then buying the Firefly series DVDs. They're halfway through, and apparently they LOVE the show.

We now return you to your regularly scheduled topic...

I wish this show would make to space chan

I watched the movie Serenity on T.V. feel in love with the show.  So I bought the DVD's of Firefly and in one day watched the whole thing (my dvd player is not working waiting for them to fix it)   :(

I never heard of it before so I did not know that it just ended :(      That part I found very disapointing to get hooked on the show and have it taken away.  can you tell that I am a sci fi junky   :D  lol lol     I heard some where that the guy who wrote it hoped to bring it back some day so he would not tell anyone where the story is going or have books writen.  OK ALREADY BRING IT BACK

I want more              I do not know why they cancelled it I know they most likely said that it would not work     But they should have learnt their leason when they said that Star Wars would not do well. They were wrong then and they are wrong about this.

There are a whole lot of people upset that Fox canceled Firefly. It was a great show.

Joss did bring Firefly back when he made the movie Serenity . He was at least able to finish telling part of the story.

There are no plans to continue with Firefly/Serenity  now since all of the actors have new jobs.

After the writers strike is over, watch for Joss's new show 'Dollhouse' staring Eliza Dushku (Faith from Buffy)

PS, Space did show Firefly and all of the unaired episodes rught after it was canceled.

    Re: Serenity… onwards and upwards!

While I did see the movie serenity and it did explane things better.    I would have loved the story to continue.

It was on the DVD of the series in the extra content (special features) that the writer in an interview said that he did not tell the whole story for hopes in the future to bring it back.  He said that he would not tell the whole story  so if he got the chance he could go on from where he did or start it up a few year later.    While I do not know when they taped the interview (before or after he made the movie) .  And I do not know if he changed his mind  I would love the contuation of the story.

I found it to be one of the more real of the sci-fi futuristic shows.  I liked that it mixed the old with the new.  And gave a good reason for it to be that way.  It was not we have all of this tec and every thing is great and I can do any thing I want to Life is great.  It is the strugle that makes us who we are.  Times being so hard brought out the good and bad in all.  How they were "real"  I love the story telling of it.  To get lost in the story.

Oh, no doubt, if Joss COULD do more, he would. It's just not looking very likely at the moment.  Still, Joss seems to be pretty good at pulling rabbits out of hats, so nobody is saying it WON'T happen, just don't hold your breath,

Quite recently (October 4) Alan Tudyk was interviewed for the re-release of the fancy pansy new "Serenity: Special Edition DVD". He let slip that there were plans for a Serenity II.    Yeah I know.  What would Wash know?  He's dead.

But still... it could be a backstory.  Or something.   (This is Sci Fi.    Anything could happen. Wink)

Yup, Alan said that, but he's the only one. Everyone else has denied knowing anything about it. Of course they could all be instructed to keep it under wraps, but one point Joss makes is that everyone has a job now and assembling the cast would be difficult, not to mention Joss will be busy with Dollhouse soon.

Still, I have my fingers crossed.

PS, Also heard a rumor today about a secret new Buffy movie, but can't find any refrences for it, so... just ignore this line. Wink

    Re: Serenity… onwards and upwards!

So I rewatched Serenity the other night since it happened to air on CityTV, and was reminded of something that had been nagging at me for a while - namely, what did Mr. Universe's lair remind me of? And now I think I remember...

Anyone here ever play The Longest Journey? It was a point-and-click adventure game released about seven or eight years ago, pretty well known in the genre. In any case, if anyone besides me has played it - Mr. Universe is Burns Flipper, no? Both are solitary, anarchist techno-geeks that help our heroes in a vital way. Both are found out and killed by representatives of a cold, totalitarian authority for their trouble. But what really caught my attention was their environments ... here's a screenshot of Burns Flipper's lair.

Dunno if The Longest Journey is well-known enough to have inspired the Serenity folks, though. I'm thinking they were both inspired by something older. Anyone have any ideas as to what?
