But we're in Canada. Our names mean nothing on this petition, as even if it's successful, we cannot then be counted as part of that success, as we watch the show on Space, not on some U.S. channel ....

Of COURSE you count!   Lionsgate makes money by selling rights to the show to Spacecast just as it does to Sky One in the UK! They also make money with the sell of the DVD's, which can be marketed all over the world!

We need to make sure that Lionsgate KNOWS there are people all over the world who love the show & want to see more of it!

In fact, if you look at the signatures on the petition, there ARE folks from all over the world who have signed & want to see more of the Dresden Files! In this one case, everyone DOES count.

No, actually, we don't, and web petitions don't work either.

The cancellation of Dresden was for reasons beyond ratings, as it was the 3rd highest rated show on Sci-Fi.

A good chunk of people know the reasons why, and they aren't going to say it. So, let's just say that there was a reason why it took so long to announce the cancellation, and no amount of fan support will bring it back.  At least not as the show they want it to be.

Web petitions don't ordinarily hold much clout with the Execs, but what the petition DOES do is give us numbers, and the comments folks are leaving are wonderful & very positive, which ALSO helps. :)

As for the reasons, I'd be overjoyed if ANYONE with information would tell me what is going on with this fantastic show!! But so far, not 1 person from SciFi Channel has responded to any efforts we've made so far. I'd appreciate any help anyone could give! :)

SciFi posted an article on Sci Fi Wire saying that the Dresden Files would not be returning for Season 2. We have written hundreds upon hundreds of letters & e-mails, but so far there's been no reply from SciFi. So, we started the petition & the Win Harry Raffle to convince someone to air the Dresden Files for Season 2....

Yeah, the news bit is here, which says "SCI FI Channel confirmed that The Dresden Files will not return for a second season." so it seems to be official. Which sucks. A lot. I really liked the show.

That's too bad. I didn't get into the show the first time it aired as the first couple of episodes didn't really grab me. But I heard it got better, so I gave it another chance this summer and I've been enjoying it.

At least you guys got to see re-runs. They only showed 1 here and that was at 8 AM ET on a Wednesday! :o/

But the Petition is doing REALLY well as are the DVD sales, plus we're hoping the Raffle can help with that. Hopefully with both going, we can get the media's attention & get the story out for everyone to see - so many folks still don't know! :*(

Hmm although I'd like to have seen the series get another season (just to see if they managed to decide what they wanted to do with it if nothing else), I'll hold off signing any petition to save it.

 I'm holding out on signing any "save *insert series name here* " petitions until we finally get around to people creating petitions to save series that never even aired, but just sounded like good ideas. Since now every single series that gets cancelled gets a petition, no matter how long it was on or how good it actually was, I shouldn't have to wait long.

I like the show it's a wizard show for adults and even though I'm married I can still look, and Blackthorne is really worth looking at and now that I found out he's 6ft 4" that gives me more of a reason too look at him and his character and the show, which I really like everything about it. So I'm signing the petition.
