Had an event last night, so I wasn't able to catch it, but maybe this will help you determine which cut Space ran.

Did not see the broadcast of which you post, so I can't speak to what footage was or was not shown....however, the most outstanding difference between the original cut and the director's is the inclusion of several pages of the Time travel book by Roberta Sparrow....the director's cut also included several scenes not in the original, as well as the exclusion of some shots....but the most outstanding difference are the pages of the book regarding the various topics in the scenes that follow.

    Cool

    Hope that helps.

I think a lot of the retro-80s soundtrack was excised from the director's cut too, if I'm not mistaken.

The opening scene where he is riding his bike, if "Killing Moon" by Echo and the Bunnymen was playing it was the original. If "Never Tear Us Apart" by INXS was playing, it was the director's cut.

I looked at the wikipedia page and it was definitely the original version.

Both versions are really good, but I happened to see the director's cut first, and therefor, like it better.  I especially like the DVD's commentary track with Kevin Smith....and on Donnie Darko contest winner is truley a Darko fan....and surprising to see just how much the Brits took to Donnie Darko...! A great movie in whatever version tho.
