    Lost

What's up. Looks like Space is showing the Season 3 finale but that's it.

Is this cause CTV is overbooked? So you folks are getting the cast offs?

Be nice if Space planned on airing Season 4

    Re: Lost

SPACE was the perfect place to do a major two episode recap of LOST.

We will not be getting season 4 at this time.

    Re: Lost

We got hundreds of angry e-mails asking why we would start at season 4.

Didn't we know that people wanted to see the whole show from the beginning?

I thought most people would have already seen the show on air, or on DVD, and would welcome a repeat.

I think the quick concensus was -NO!- our audience wants the whole thing from the beginning.

    Live and learn.

who wants to watch a Lost 2hr SF of season 3 if you haven't aired the rest of the shows! Play it from the start or not at all!

    Re: Lost

I find it interesting that it started at 9 eastern as opposed to the 8 eastern time mentioned plus how they showed the normal version while one of there sister stations showed the enhanced version.

    Re: To Space Programming

SPACE is showing the 'clean' non-pop-up version.

We felt that this way the viewers have a choice. It seemed a cool thing to do.

Thanxs for the heads up Mark.  Would of been neat if one was original; and the second was the special.  Just kidding probably would invite a deluge of gripes.

    Monster,

I did not forget I was just saying 2 channels own by the same company were airing the same program at the sametime but 2 different versions.  I cannot think of another time I heard of  a show was being aired by 2 stations owned by the same company airing at the sametime but it not the same version.

    Re: Lost

Airing the LOST season 3 finale on SPACE was an experiment.

(The fact that ABC did a special 'enhanced' version was an experiment as well.)

If it was successful, then I think viewers can expect more experiments of this type.

    Re: Lost

As another viewer who missed seeing Lost from the beginning, I'd love to see SPACE start airing the series from season one (I refuse to jump in the middle on this one, so reluctantly gave SPACE's airing a pass this week) for those of us late to the show to catch up but find the DVDs a bit too pricey of a way to do it.  Is there any chance of repeating the series from the beginning in the near future?  Or should I be digging my heels in to wait for the series to end and go into syndication.....

    Re: Lost

guess i'll have to explain to anne that Space is not airing season four then.

she was under the impression that was the plan.

then we got into a short discussion about whether or not Space should be airing Lost season 4.

she thought it was a great idea, that Space had something "current" on.

me, i disagreed, arguing that Lost is available on so many other stations ('course we have satellite so we have several time zones to select from) and besides, starting from the fourth season could be a ratings bomb because if show it later in the week after all the main viewers are geared for the middle of the week, they're not likely to tune in unless they are real diehards and want to see if there's anything in the way of pertinent little details they "missed" the first time around.

and i concluded that airing Lost on Space (almost had a joke there, son Smile) when CTV likely airs it already on its main station means that Space doesn't give another indie sf\fantasy show a broadcast shot.

then she fired back "that it's better than watching umpteen reruns of Trek" and we left things at that.

in the end, mark, i am afeard that yer new overlords will end up using Space as a "dumping ground" for whatever they can't shoehorn into regular CTV broadcasts and that what you're given in the way of programs does not fit the Space format of sf, fantasy, horror, superheroes. like what's happened to the Sci-Fi Channel down south.

Thanks, but I don't need any help getting into trouble since I seem to manage quite well on my own.

    Re: Lost

I don't think that SPACE will become a 'dumping ground' for projects. Sometimes we might share projects (as we do with Supernatural, Smallville, and the sarah Connor Chronicles) but in some cases we'll be the lead broadcaster. If we do get LOST, I think it will likely be in strip syndication, so it's a different broadcast experience. The fan reaction to Season 4 on SPACE was massive and negative, for a number of reasons, and lo and behold, it's not going to appear.

I think that the 'New Overlords' are also into getting some interesting older shows- we've already seen that with Robotech, and I know they are pursuing some fan favorites. The new Doctor Who was even mentioned- a show that would likely not have appeared here with the 'Old Overlords'.

As for Trek, as long as viewers flock to it (or any other show for that matter), then those shows will stay on the schedule.

    Re: Lost

Space should always have all the Treks.  It is like bread and water for Space viewers.

Didn't CTV originally air Star Lost?

    20 minutes into the future.

gregg: I have the same concern. Don't get me wrong: a lot of the current stuff that's being given second airings on SPACE is very good TV, and would fit at least somewhat into the sci-fi/fantasy genre. And it's good to have some current shows in the mix - to keep SPACE's ratings up and cashflow flowing, if for no other reason. But if I can watch everything on SPACE earlier on a Canadian or American network, it feels like a "wasted" timeslot, that could be better used to show something I can't see anywhere else.

Mark, I hope your optimism isn't misplaced. I know you don't make programming decisions, but it's good to know that there are still some people working at SPACE that actually like sci-fi.

    Re: Lost

I know this is slightly off topic but the main thing I do not like that happenned since the new overloads came into play were the positioning of the for lack of a better term the space fillers that use to occur at the end of a program or movie that contained interviews, behind the scenes stuff, etc.  Now they are featured durning the tv show or movie like a commercial.  Like commercial a) they are no longer fun or interesting, b) no longer a treat since they are shown so many times and c) the appropiate bit might not be a proper fit with whats being shown.
