SPACE had decided to air BSG at the same time as the SciFi network. This was a complex decision, but given how plot driven the 4th season is, we felt this was best.

This will mean that SPACE viewers will watch the show at the same time as their American counterparts.

Leading up to the big day, SPACE is producing new, exclusive BSG pieces to run on HypaSpace.

We will also be producing new one minute pieces that will run during the SPACE schedule.

Since this has already been announced as the final season, I guess the move back to Friday nights means ratings are not as important as they were before...?

The ratings are very important. We think that the show is strong enough that Friday nights will not hurt it.

This is weighed against how many people might download it if we didn't.

We are planning on a weekend repeat, so hopefully everybody will be happy.

What if Friday and the weekend showings aren't good enough.  What happens if we have to go out and forget to set the recording device?  It should be shown on a Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday night.

The original BSG was cut short, and then there was a very strange 'spin off' that most fans hated.

Thanks for the update, Mark.  I organize a big Battlestar Galactica club in Vancouver and I really appreciated you keeping us in the loop here with discussions about the air date.  Even if we didn't have a date, at least there was something to pass along to my members and blog readers.     Now we can go ahead and organize our Premiere Party!

I hope the other fan orgs share your opinion!

We are trying to keep BSG fans up to date because we know that there'll be confusion over the start date.

I think that by having the same start date as SciFi we have kept things as simple as possible.

That said, as always, people will miss the first episode, and be upset with us.

That's a good move, because I can tell you that personally, if you guys weren't going to air it along with Sci-fi, I was planning to download the episodes.  I do the same thing with Stargate Atlantis, because I'm too impatient to wait 3 days for it to air on Movie Central.  

Fantastic news!  I can't express how excellent it is that this will air at the same time as in the states ever since the nightmare that was the ultimate failure of avoiding spoilers for season two.

Yes... this about sums it up. All of the good parts of Galactica 1980 in a little over 2 minutes and they still couldn't filter out some of the crap...
