    Re: More who news

    jhm:

Hey gang I don't know if anyone has mentioned this one but reruns of Doctor who are on in half an hour, from I can see season 1 or something is on Wednesday at 8 on that new Bold or B channel 277 on rogers.

Yes, Lawgirl mentioned it a while ago. I was planning to watch, but looks like I don't get the channel. Bummer.

On the other hand, I do have the DVDs, so I could actually watch it and just tape a little 'Bold' bug on the TV screen. Wink

Re: And it begins... SPOILERS **

    C.Frost:
After the kick in the gut that was the Torchwood final the Doctor Who premier was a great pallet cleanser,
& that little tag towards the end of the show....... Oh this is gonna be a real good series.
To hell with CBC, they want to cheat us out of series 4 over the summer then everyone should DL the ep's
then maby a station with some common sense will pick it up & do right by the fans.

I assume you're referring to Owen & Tosh? I kinda figured that Owen would get killed off at the end as I thought several of the previous episodes were leading up to that. Tosh was a bit of a surprise though. I will miss those characters but hopefully new characters will be introduced who will create a new interesting dynamic. Besides, isn't there some line that when you work for Torchwood don't expect to live past 35 or something to that effect?

All in all though I was very impressed with Series 2 Torchwood - much more consistent than Series 1. So I have high hopes for Series 4 of Doctor Who. I think that Donna will be a good companion. I like her eccentric grandfather. However, once again she has a mother who is a bit of a nag (although not as irritating as Martha's mother). I wonder does RTD have some mommy issues or does he just not know how to write maternal characters?

However, that last scene with the shadowy figure of Rose annoyed me. I liked her as a companion when she travelled with the Doctor in the first two seasons. However, she is gone, let's get over it & move on. The show is called "Doctor Who" not "The Doctor Constantly Pines for Rose".

    Wooo!

4x01 'Partners in Crime" is downloading as we speak.

Unfortunately, I will have it before I have time to watch it. Somehow I will survive the delay. Don't know how yet.

BTW, no, CBC didn't reply yet.

edited to add... DL just finished, I haven't watched it yet, but took a quick look at the credits and CBC is NOT mentioned there now. So, does that mean the CBC has abandoned it entirely???

I just checked my dl.  You're  right CBC is no longer listed as a production company, only BBC Wales. In fact, the last time CBC was listed on an episode was episode 313.  The 2007 Christmas special and season 4 make no mention of CBC in the credits.

    Sarah Jane on BBCK

Was just checking the listings and noticed 2 episodes of Sara Jane on BBCK tonight for those who get that station.

    Ep 2 of series 4

Just finished episode 2 & talk about a good ep.
Excellent Doctor Donna interaction, mass destruction on the VFX end of things
& the speech toward the end really hammers home what
it means to be the Doctor, knowing that these terrible things are going to happen
yet never being allowed to change them, that interaction was awsome just on the from the acting
stand point. I've said it befor this series is gonna be awsome 3 1/2.

& next ep, the Ood return.

I have to agree with you there. One of the reasons I am enjoying Donna so much in series 4. She isn't all the googlely eyes.

As someone who pines for Rose almost as much as the Doctor, I don't think I can agree with you. Wink

    Hmm [^o)] Re: Missing Series 3 Commentary…

TV Shows On DVD reports that BBC America is finally making available the missing Commentary from Series 3… at least for download. It was the one originally slated for episode 13, that was replaced after all of the material was put together.

You can download the commentary at the link on this page, and read about the whole thing here, at TV Shows on DVD.

We now return you to your regularly scheduled topic...

I've had that commentary in mp3 format for quite a while now, but still haven't listened to it. That's because I want to watch the video as I listen and I can't do both at the same time... yet.

What I really want is the episode with the commentary track on it already.

There's probably a way to merge the mp3 with the video, but I haven't figured that out yet.

    Ep 3 X 04 (SPOILERS) - Dr Who

    Anyone seen episode 3 yet?

Quite enjoyed it - I really like the interplay between the Doctor and Donna. Finally, a companion who isn't so doe-y eyed around him & acts more of a conscience & stabling force for his incredible intellect - much like Dr. Watson to Sherlock Holmes.

I'm looking forward to episode 4 as we see more aliens from Classic Who appear in new Who. This time one of my favs - the Sontarons.

Yup, ep 3 was pretty good, although, if you think about it, the only thing the Doctor actually did there was to disarm the bomb. Everything else would have happened even if he never showed up.

While I like the Ood, their evolution seems a bit messed up to me. Who wants to have an external brain that you have to carry in your hand most of the time?

Oh, and I liked the doe eyed companions. Both of 'em. Smile

I guess Donna is not going to be as annoying as I feared, I guess she's ok.

There were more premonitions in this ep too. The Doctors song will end soon. Add that to the 2 from Pompei.

Yes, I'm looking forward to ep 4 as well, the doe eyed companion is back !!!   Surprise  Oh yea, and Sontarons.

True the Doctor didn't have a lot to do. However, I liked the idea of the second brain - it meant that they were peaceful but human-kind took it as a sign of inferiority & weakness and exploited this for their own gain. All in all a thought-provoking episode. It shows how good these episodes can be & how messages can come across (without hitting the audience over the head) when RTD hands the reigns over to other writers. Not to say that RTD is incapable of writing good (and thought-provoking) stuff, it's just that others are better at it in the context of Doctor Who.

As for Martha returning in ep. 4 - that's fine with me. I actually like her even if she was a little doe-eyed. I just wish that the show & the Doctor could move beyond Rose.

David and Georgia sittin' in a tree

I had to laugh when I read this, looks lie David and Georgia Moffat are a couple now.

For those who don't know who she is, all I can say is that she was a guest star on Doctor Who, anything else would be a spoiler.

Georgia has a 6yo son, I wonder what he thinks about Mommy dating the Doctor. We already know David is his favorite even over the other obvious choice.

     spoilery article

    Edited to add:

Here is another article about David and Georgia. This one is hilarious, they don't miss any details about the weirity connecting these two. If you DON'T know who Georgia is, this artcle has spoilers in it.

Thanks for sharing that Psi-Phi. You're right that was hilarious. Makes you wonder if anyone involved has unresolved daddy issues. Wonder if Freud ever had a case like this?!
