Re: Still Flying - The Firefly Thread

A shameless plug for my website. I've just completed a bit of an overhaul to it which entailed adding some more links, new pics, posters, and vids, along with larger versions of the movie trailers. Please feel free to check it out.

Heh. Really gotta remember to close those pesky tags.

ETA: It seems my webhost is acting a little wonky at the moment. Hopefully it will be cleared up soon. Sorry.

A bit of "news" regarding the movie from AICN -

    SAILING THE RIVER TAM
Buzz inside certain Los Angeles law firms suggests that talent contracts are being hammered out, and they’re timed around a May start for an upcoming Universal feature about a starship captain, a space hooker, a mysterious preacher and a pair of fugitives named Tam. The bad news: under the scenario discussed, “Firefly: The Movie” wouldn’t hit multiplexes until late 2005.

I wouldn't click on the link unless you want to be spoiled for upcoming Angel and OC eps. It's one of those mixed bag articles.

    Greg Edmonson Interview:

Greg Edmonson is most recently known for his sensational work on the 2002 FOX television hit, Firefly. Often called a "sci-fi Western," Firefly tells of a rag-tag crew of nine aboard a spaceship, who are trying to survive a futuristic, totalitarian government on one hand and a lawless, savage frontier on the other. Created by Joss Whedon (Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Titan A.E., Toy Story), the show delivered Whedonesque humor and cleverness at its best. Although the series was cancelled after only 11 episodes, Firefly quickly drew a huge and devoted fanbase still going strong one year after cancellation. The complete season of Firefly was released on DVD in December 2003, largely because of fan demands. For the first 2 months of its DVD release, it was consistently ranked amongst the top 25 best sellers on Amazon.com and averaged five stars amongst Amazon's 500 reviewers. Firefly is currently in negotiations to be made into a feature film. Groundwork has also been started for a soundtrack release of Edmonson's score.*

    Adam Baldwin on Angel
Looks like he will be playing a reoccuring character named Hamilton starting with ep 5/17. Oh, for the record, I don't consider casting info to be a spoiler.

That's good news about AB....just wish I could have found out when he showed up on the show.

    As it should be.

Yeah!!!!!! Just great!!!! I thought they were going to cast Hamilton like they did Lawson, Hauser, Novac or Dan. Allright actors I guess but no real spark or personality, and they all seem to blend into each other.

Great news to have Adam Baldwin on Angel.

Nah, go ahead and use the link. I was thinking of starting a Saturn Awards 2004 Nominee thread, but someone else can do it.

And a tidbit about the Firefly Movie script:

"The original script was shelved and Joss wrote something else entirely. Something less of an epilogue and more of a potential springboard to a series return."

From a very reliable source. ;)

You mean this thread where it's been up for a few days already? ;)

    My reply in it:

    Intersting symmetry too.

Joss spending a huge amount of time and work to craft a great script, then it getting shelved and forced to crank a new one out real quick.

Of course, time wise, it was a bit different this time. Like 7 months on the first script, followed by one on the second, instead of however long on serenity, then a weekend on The Train Job.

Actually it's originally a post from here -
    http://groups.yahoo.com/group/still_flying

Mr Jeremy Neish recently joined the group and reposted the information at his site and other forums without checking with the source of the info to see if it was okay. He basically jumped the gun. Also, anything posted on the list is supposed to stay on the list and not distributed elsewhere without permission. Otherwise I would've had that info posted here before it was even posted at his Fireflymovie.com site, the OB, FFF.net, or Buffistas. I did check with the source to see if it was okay to spread the news and was told to hold back until sometime later this month.

Anyways, some of the people who frequent this forum seem not to get around the Internet that much and you just never know what they've seen or read. I'm doing my little bit to keep 'em informed with the Firefly stuff.

I also saw and read your post in that thread. Mahdi, eh. It's from Dune, isn't it?

    ;)

Re: Still Flying - The Firefly Thread

hey i have a question about Firefly! I was looking at the tv listing and it says they were up to Episode 5. Now is it the first time Space has shown this series? Let's say I wait 7 more weeks.. will they re-start it from the beginning? is that what they usually do? like for example, they re-started Buffy from Season 1 right after Season 7 and I figure they are going to re-air it all the way to Season 7 again. Ok well i think i'm pretty clear, lol! :)

Got an answer! The show is on it's second run at the moment and I would think it'll be repeated at least one more time.

Re: Still Flying - The Firefly Thread

Being rather silly and snarky. Here's a scene I'd love to see in the upcoming movie -

EXT. GREENLEAF - ESTABLISHING - DAY

ANGLE OVER PASTORAL MEADOW - which is grassy and all manner of pretty. A Fox and a Frog are busy frolicking in the midst of it. From above Serenity comes in to rest right smack dab in the middle of the meadow. The poor Fox and Frog are crispy fried by the engine exhaust.

EXT. SERENITY - CARGO RAMP - LANDING AREA - DAY

Mal walks down the ramp. Jayne, Wash, Zoe, stand at the bottom. Kaylee and Simon stand with Book and River at the top of the ramp, looking around.

    Mal
    Well.
    (Sniffs the air. Grimaces)
--what in the gorram hell is that smell?
    Jayne
Dunno. Reminds me of my little brother's cooking. (Beat) Used to burn everything.
    Mal
    Huh.

    :D
