    OH NO!!!!!

I like this show and now I read this **** check out what's bad*****

    Blood Ties, CityTV
    Kyle Schmid

    Blood Ties
    Mondays, 8 p.m. ET/CT, Citytv Toronto/Winnipeg; Thursdays, 8 p.m. MT, Citytv Calgary/Edmonton; Sundays, 7 p.m. PT, Citytv Vancouver

Who’s in it? Christina Cox (Better than Chocolate), Dylan Neal, Kyle Schmid (Beautiful People)

What’s it about? Based on the books by Tanya Huff, Blood Ties is about a 350-year-old vampire and a private detective who join forces to rid a city of supernatural baddies.

Reminds us of: Moonlight and Forever Knight

What’s Good? The chemistry between the two leads is palpable, and this show – unlike Moonlight – wallows in camp.

What’s Bad? Blood Ties already aired for one season on Lifetime in the U.S. – and Season 2 doesn’t appear to be happening. So enjoy this while you can.

Bottom Line? We’ll PVR this one.

Debuts: Aug. 20, Citytv Toronto/Winnipeg; Aug. 23, Citytv Calgary/Edmonton; Aug. 26 Citytv Vancouver

    Schierke:

yeah, we in the USA sort of felt jipped the way it's being presented over here. Plus, LIFETIME has only scheduled eps 13-22 to be aired once a week, instead of giving an *encore* viewing, like we used to get.

So, we're really counting on the rest of the world to (HOPEFULLY) vote for more eps to be added to the current, existing 22 eps (SEASON 1/Series 1) based on the original production order of the eps.

There's lots of *pouting* going on in the meantime (and not just from my own network disappointment).. we didn't even get the promised repeat viewings on the Network over the summer, as was originally promised. Some people who missed the premiere eps (1 and 2) were counting on that repeat viewing, because they have dial-up modems, and can't view the eps on Lifetime's video site, and downloading off of i-tunes was causing major headaches for them. So they basically gave up on the internet end, and were looking forward to the encore viewings (or marathon) prior to ep 13 starting up in October (supposedly to start on Oct. 12th).

    *sigh*

    Hey everyone,

personally speaking this show has got good reviews in the UK, it debuted here at the end of August and so far 4 eps in, people over here are loving it.

Now as Vampire shows go, this is to me much better than Forever Knight which, quite frankly was extremly camp and thank god for a Vampire that does not wallow in self pity, self righteousness, and sits and broods in the dark. I was a huge fan of Angel and loved the whole vampire lore of him but come on Henry is more adaptable and he is not a romance writer but a graphical artist which, in the visual medium is more accetable and for the character suits him more because it is more gritty. Yes the whole concept is very open to interpetation but come on people we are dealing with mythology here not real crime. If you want that then watch CSI or NCIS for real situations, this is just good hour long fun and the actors themselves are not bad to look at, lucky us!

    Re: OH NO!!!!!

Hi there!!!  ANGELSSLAV...............'How are ya???'  And I agree with you on your post, it's much better than any of the shows you mentioned.  ALISASG..............don't fret my pet, it's not over yet.  We still have to have hope and faith(one of Henry's fav words)that our show can be and will be saved.  And FISHYLYNN................this message is for you too, well;all of the Canadians that watch and love our show.  It is true what Peter Mohan said about that Lifetime may not show all the remaining 10 episodes here in the U.S.  We the fans over at the Lifetime message board, have been thinking that what Lifetime wants is to see more viewership within the first or three or five episodes.  That way, if the numbers aren't what they hope they will be, then they will make the decision to cut the remaining episodes.  And this can't happen, that's why we need for all of you, the Canadian fans and the International fans to help us out here.  If you gals and guys, get the Lifetime Network, then please, when the show returns on 10/12, we need the numbers to keep them from cancelling our show.  So, get in contact with whomever you know there and overseas, and convince them to watch in October.  Besides this action, we are starting to send the postcards out again and e-mails and letters and just annoy the hell out of Lifetime.  Bloodties must stay on the air, we can't lose it, it is GOOD ENTERTAINMENT.  And the fanbase for this type of genre is steadily growing and we have to let Lifetime know that if they let this show go, then it will be a huge mistake for them.  For those interested in the postcards campaign, here is the address:  Lifetime Entertainment Services, World Wide Plaza, 309 W. 49th Street, New York, NY.  10019, Attn: Susanne Daniels(President), Andrea Wong(Head of Programming) OR Audience Relations.  And there is another campaign going on called "FANGS 4 MORE BLOODTIES'.  And the young lady to contact about that info is:  http://www.myspace.com/bloodtiesfans.  Just shout her(Nettie) a 'holla' and I know that she would be glad to help.  And also, get in contact with SpacecastTV and let them know what's going on and urge them to get in contact with Lifetime too.  Well, that's my time, and THANKS for letting me share our obsession for our show.  "TAKE CARE!!!........................."   DIYALA.Big Smile

Re: OH NO!!!!! (At Least Someone is Listening)

Found this on a Google Alert:

    New York Daily News.com

11 (LIFE) “Bloodties.” Vicki Nelson (Christina Cox) is a private investigator who solves supernatural crimes in this Lifetime Channel sci-fi drama, but the real drama these days seems to be off the screen. Fans of the show have started a petition begging Lifetime executives to pump up the volume and promote the series more. Their fear, of course, is out of sight, out of mind, which is usually a precurser to a heartless trip to cancellation city.
    Richard Huff
So if the New York Daily News knows what we're up to I would imagine Lifetime is becoming aware of it too.

Re: OH NO!!!!! (At Least Someone is Listening)

And this was posted at the Lifetime Blog:

I was just over on the www.heynielsen.com web site to see how Blood Ties is doing today. GREAT news to share! Today’s ranking is #13 out of 2659 (inclusive category of movies, TV shows, etc.) and #10 of 681 when matched against TV shows only. The numbers have been going up daily. I hope the powers that be at Lifetime are watching this! It’s a great indication of the “buzz” on a topic and Blood Ties is doing really well!!!!

We need to keep going to the Neilsen site to help it go up higher.

So its not over yet, the Fat Lady hasn't sung yet.  We ALL need to keep writing letters, postcards, etc. to Lifetime, other networks, sponsors, etc.  I'm not ready to say die until the show has drawn its last breath and its not there yet.  We all need to work together to save a show that we all seem to love so.

    Moonlight sucks; Blood Ties ROOOOCKS.

If only Blood Ties had the funding of Moonlight, then we'd be in for fantastic TV...

    Re: OH NO!!!!!

Does anyone know if any of the canadian networks buying up Blood Ties for further series?

Lifetime seem to have pulled the plug on the US fans of the show and are airing the final episode online instead. They have done all they can to scupper any thoughts of a renewal, as i am a UK resident i am hoping that living tv buy up the show and air it over here but i was wondering if Insight and Kaleidoscope are going to continue making the show and selling it over seas and in the Canadian Market as it is such a fantastic concept, it does not deserve to die on it's first series.

    Re: OH NO!!!!!

I had lunch with writer/creator Tanya Huff yesterday, and we discussed a possible second season. With all the changes in the television landscape it will be tough for Blood ties to find new funding, but it isn't impossible. The series isn't dead yet... just limping...<g>

Tanya has been thrilled with the series, and was actually in town to support the Blood Ties writers while they walked the picket line...

    Re: OH NO!!!!!

I am yet another fan of Blood Ties. It's drawn me back into the habit of watching TV in fact. My 11 year old son and I watch together; it's good for him to see a strong heroine. Kids are fed Disnified pap where girls are princesses waiting to be rescued by the prince. Well, thank you, no. I adore Vicki and like her as a tool for educating my son: she has no superpowers or magic or gadgets, she's a normal woman doing the best she can to make the world a better place. She sometimes gets hurt along the way, and she's willing to make that sacrifice for others. Further, she stands up to the men in her life and is generally proven right. She doesn't fall back on the soap opera tools of hysteria or weakness; she is at least Mike and Henry's equal in intellect and capability and she is totally unapologetic. Further, the men in her life respect her as an equal - while they freely challenge her, they challenge her as an equal rather as the Men putting the Little Lady in her place.
We need more ordinary woman doing their best and succeeding on TV. We have too much Disney, and women who are weak and need rescuing.
So, hooray to Space for this show, this heroine and please keep up the good work.

I feel that given the amount of support this show has been given by the fans from all over the world, to throw the towel in now would be subjecting yer another fantastic supernatural series to the vaults of forgotten shows. Tanya i am well aware must know the depth of the emotion fans have about her books and the thrill of seeing them made into a series. The writers and producers of the show must see that finding funding of course is paramount but surely selling it the way they did and having overseas interest can spark that hope of another series and another network to sell it too. Lifetime seem hell bent in just disgarding the show and that doesn't bode well with other television networks who picked up the show and are running with it. It kind of leaves a panic in the air as to why Lifetime has been no more than lukewarm about their response to the content of such a fantastic literature piece of work.
