    We'll miss ya, Jon.

Tell me about it. Heavy, heavy sigh. I can't afford to fly to Toronto once a year to see him do Macbeth! How am I supposed to get my Llyr fix? And Lynn's doing a lot of "WAAAAAUGH!" too.

    I second that!

Thanks Ali and Marc! Hope your holidays treat you well.

And Naomi; Jonathan Llyr's been given the ol' heave-ho by the new masters along with most of the production unit. CTV is gutting the place. I agree with Doug; this blows big time, and for me represents one less reason to still tune into the station. I swear SPIKE TV has been serving my sci-fi needs far better of late.

I second the thanks for the holiday greetings. And I wish everyone else a happy Christsolstkwanzakkah! (I've officially converted to Global Standard Deity Wink and have decided that's our winter holiday.)

There are still shows that I will continue to follow on Space because, well, I'm loyal to the shows (Eureka, BSG and the Stargates come to mind). But I think that's it for me when it comes to Space's in-house programming. I mean, come on, the Spaceys without Jonathan Llyr?

It's frustrating that they've just dropped one of their biggest assets, their brain trust of all things science-fictioney and on-site fanboy. He's one of us, dammit! And that makes him the best man for the job! Oy...

Talk about a lump of coal in the collective viewers stocking.  I'm just so excited about only having Mrs. Bubbly McEntertainment-Fluff delivering sci-fi news.

    Hmm

OK, that pisses me right the hell off.  Angry

Not that I've been paying much attention to Hypa or any of SPACE's other original programming, ever since they cut down Jon and Nat's roles in favour of peppy blondes with D-cups. I guess I shouldn't be surprised, really ... they've proven over and over again that they don't know a good thing when they've got it.

If anyone is in contact with Jon, please wish him well for me. He's a talented guy and deserves to land on his feet - hopefully working with people who appreciate his abilities more than SPACE has of late. Same goes for the behind-the-scenes production folks: corporate "restructuring" always ends up hurting the little guy, and I wish them the best of luck as well.

They finally got around to doing the axing at Space.  I was hoping it was small and insignificant enough to get overlooked.  They couldn't even wait until after the New Year.

Wait 'til Mr. Askwith gets the axe, then it'll be completely useless.

I tuned in for the Hypaspace end credits just to see if Mr. Askwith's name was listed and did not see it.  That may have been because this show was basically a rehash of the BT behind the scenes special that aired several times before, but recent events have given little reason for any hope.

I've pretty much sworn off Hypaspace now.

I think that probably is the reason for this particular segment. However, yes, little reason for hope. Jon gone, even Simon Evans gone. That really leaves Mark A. and Natasha Eloi as the best representatives of the station's subject matter. The future of Space is lookin' bleak.

I've pretty much sworn off Hypaspace now.

As far as I'm concerned, the Hypaspace podcast has been the only real Hypaspace for the last year. Lord knows what its future is though.

Re: That was an interesting hypaspace podcast...

I suspect you'll see Hypaspace vanish entirely. Seriously, how did it ever generate direct revenue? There's no doubt it generated some sort of indirect revenue, but that's tough to quantify, and in the meantime it only added to the coffers of the productions/movies/tv shows/etc. that it exposed the fans to.

It cost money to produce without ad revenue, so it obviously will go the way of the dodo.
