    The Ruins

Good acting and a good story.  I was pleasantly surprised.  One of the better horror movies.

    Re: The Ruins

It wasn't as ruinous as some have made it out to be?

    Re: The Ruins

Definitelty not.  The acting was done well enough not to distract from the story, which was good.   This was an above average movie- good, but not great.

I quite liked Johnathan Tucker in the Masters of Horror episode "Dance of the Dead." He's a talented young actor, as is Jena Malone. I might have to check this movie out (the book is supposed to be a great horror novel, although that has never exactly ensured a good horror movie! Fingers crossed...).

    Re: The Ruins

I love all the horror classics, and this is one of my favorites.

More recently I fell in love with this movie called the Tattooist. Its one of those CURSED "Something" movie. Where the cursed item causes the death of many people. This time it involves an ancient Samoan tattoo tool that everyone who gets Tattooed with causes DEATH. Really well done and put together.

    Re: The Ruins

Well, for my part, I thought it was fair to middling, it wasn't quite horse poo, but the book was even more hair raising. But then... films based on books are never quite as good as the book, however with that said though..The Ruins, the film WAS written by one Scott B. Smith  the author of said book.

    Re: The Ruins

the acting was fair   but the movie it self was very bad , i did not know there was a book i have no doubt the book is probably very good but maybe its just one of those storys that should not be put to film
