    Bonnie Hammer has resigned

I just found out that Bonnie Hammer resigned in January. I am not aware of who has replaced her though. I found it on the USA network forums... but it seems like there is no mention of it anywhere else except wikipedia

I wonder if that means they will finally start showing shows with aliens, robots and spaceships?

Yayy! About fracking gorram frelling time!

Maybe somebody who understands scifi will now be running the channel indeed. It's too bad that CTV Globemedia can't buy out Sci-Fi Channel: then it would get some real people like Mark Asquith who love sci-fi to run it and be in charge of its programs. Oh, if only it were possible...

Thank you for the vote of confidence...

... but I don't think the SciFi channel will be pounding down my door any time soon!

I do think that we are living in the golden Age of SF right now- look at the incredible range of programming coming out these days. Even 'mainstream' shows like Pushing Daisies are very influenced by genre storytelling...

Not to mention shows like BSG, Heroes, LOST, Terminator, Stargate(s)and other obviously SF fare...

And no doubt we'll see the Star Trek franchise reboot after the movie does well...

Also, the guy who replaced her hardly adds any confidence. Ms. Hammer is still in charge of USA. I'm surprised by her commercial tendencies, since she used to work for the famed and educational WGBH Boston branch of PBS, which makes some amazing shows. I still hope she sees the error of her ways or my bags of nuts and changes her mind on The 4400. This is truly an amazing show that's especially important to these times in revising American cultural understanding.
