To show the Intergalactic Consortium is not all business here is a post with some of the fun things we hope to do in the next few months. I hope if you are local or somewhat local and are not a member or have been interested in joining you will try to come out to one or more of the below events.

I hope you all are enjoying the good weather. Here are dates and details re upcoming IC events/meetings. I hope if you are local or somewhat local you will be able to attend some if not all of them. Keep in mind that the dates posted here are subject to change and that if you see a post re a new date on the message board or get a e-mail that states different details from this you should go with that. If in doubt feel free to e-mail torsf@yahoo.ca
Now for the dates and details. Keep in mind the first few dates since we are almost officially into the Summer of 08 will not be meetings but special events cause who wants to be inside in when it might be a nice day outside. If the weather is not pleasant please go to the location of our usual meetings.
1) June 14th - Group BBQ & Dinner. Weather permitting we hope to have this on the roof of 175 Elm St. As usual look by the entry phone for the buzzer code but keep in mind that there is no buzzer up on the roof so you either have to arrive by 5:10pm or notify us as soon as possible so we can make arrangements for you to get in. Now re contributions everyone has to bring their own beverage and re food you can either prepare something and bring it with you, pick something up on your way or chip in money so food either delivered or picked up can be obtained.
2) Every year for anyone who attends the Toronto Trek/Polaris con or anyone who wants to come up to the hotel we have an informal meet up where we meet sometime in the mid to late afternoon and go across the road. Some people eat and some drink. Everyone is responsible for there own bill. This also gives everyone to share thoughts and experiences re the con up to then. We do not have a specific time for the meet up (we usually put a note on a physical message board re where and when to meet but usually it is between 330pm and 5pm Sat afternoon near the message board or somewhere close to the main lobby of the hotel. For this event if you are attending the con check the board and please try to post a note to the IC with your name and if you are attending. Part of the reason we meet at this time is to try to avoid the dinner crush the restaurants have a tad later plus anyone who takes part in the masquerade and or any evening events can still do those.
3) You have heard of bar or pub crawls well we are going to try something unique a Hobby Crawl. The date of this is July 19th. In it anyone who chooses to take part is responsible for there own transport but we will make a game plan of what comic and or hobby stores we want to go. This will allow people maybe to visit a store they have never gone to or maybe go to one they have not been to in sometime. Like transport any purchases are your responsibility. If you have a suggestion re a store or a locale please let us know ASAP. Keep in mind if you drive and want to offer use of your vehicle thats great but its up to you to pay for gas and or parking or make arrangements with anyone you want to transport. Keep in mind TTC might be cheaper route heck if you do not already have a pass you could get a daily pass.
4) On Aug. 9th we will either have a Game or a Movie night depending on the amount of numbers. Now this could be a stay in or maybe depending on peoples thoughts and finances entail going out to a theater.
5) We have never done this before but we thought we might try it. What this is similar to item number 2 but instead of occurring at Toronto Trek/Polaris it will occur on Aug 23rd darning the Hobbystar/Fan Expo at the Metro Convention Centre. Now since this is easier to get to maybe we will a bigger turnout. Now there is no message board at this event but we will probably try to meet by the main Front street doors. But here is hoping once the event gets closer to post more details.
6) September 13th. Game Nite if it can be arranged and it is not to expensive we might try to have a outside of our usual meeting place gaming nite where we challenge another group or club to something like maybe bowling, mini golf or something else. If you have any ideas on something and or a place where said event could take place please let us know and while you are at please find out the costs and depending on numbers if there can be any discount if a certain number take part. Keep in mind not everyone works and or drives so costs and time also has to factor in. Here is hoping it could be allot of fun and maybe start something new that maybe become a new tradition for us.
7) Fund-raising Night Oct 18th. Often we ask members and people to contribute to the group by putting money into our can well this time we are going to try something different. What we hope to do on this date instead is a fun fundrasing nite. Instead of our usual 2-3 hour meeting we will have a movie nite. Now what will set this apart is we will choose somewhere between 2 and 5 things to screen (may that be episode of a show, cartoons, short movies or fan films that will be decided on later on). For a small "donation" you will get into the event get a small drink and a snack and perhaps a ticket for a special draw that perhaps might take place after each hour of the event. Since this will be so close to Halloween people will be encouraged to show up in costume. Who knows maybe we will have prizes for those who show up in costume. This event is not open to just members of the group but anyone you think might want to join, have fun or maybe a little of both. Keep in mind anyone who attends does have to contribute. Any money raised will go to expenses for the evening and into the group account for any future expenses such as making copies of the group flyer, the running/maintenance of the groups website (that we hope to have completed soon) or something else.
8) Nov 15th. A regular Meeting. Details to be announced.
9) Dec. 13th. Our annual Holiday event/get together and like # 8 details to be announced. We are having this early so the hopes it will not interfere with any other holiday plans people might have involving business and or personal lives.
10) Jan 17th. Our first meeting of 09.
