    Torchwood

John Barrowman's website has reported that Space will start airing series 2 of Torchwood August 8th. I couldn't find any mention of it on the Space website, but is this true? It will make for a VERY happy me if it is! Big Smile

    This is true!

And yes, we are going straight into Season 2.

In the past fans have been critical of SPACE for showing a season they've already seen, so we're going straight to season 2. A bit jarring, but I think that it will work given the way season 2 begins..

Awesome! Thanks for the confirmation, mask! Big Smile Starting with series 2 doesn't bother me in the least; if I need any refreshers (hehe, not bloody likely!) the series 1 DVDs are mine anyway! Can't wait!

Some people think it's better than Doctor Who, but I don't.

There's a lot of unnecessary sex, Captain Jack is more gay than he needs to be and his character isn't as likable as on DW.

The Torchwood team is a group of undisciplined misfits that don't deserve the 'above the law' power that they have.

As for the stories, there were a few good ones and I think season 2 is better than season 1.

It's all just my own opinion of course.

I don't watch Doctor Who. Would it be important to do so before trying out Torchwood?

If season one's not airing on CBC at the moment, I might rent it in time to catch up with Space's season two ....

You're not going to understand what happened to Jack because that's all covered in DW. Jack doesn't even tell his team about his past. They know certain facts, but they don't know why. You won't know anything about certain other characters when they show up mid season.

It might be handy to have TW season 1's back story (not that there is much of it) to help with season 2.

I'd say you don't need to see DW unless you're curious after watching TW.

    Re: Torchwood

CBC's new cable channel Bold is near the end of a repeat run of Series One of "Doctor Who" on Wednesday nights.  You might want to watch this Wednesday's episode, "The Parting of the Ways" (June 25th), as that episode reveals another major character trait for Captain Jack.  That may help you catch up a little bit.

    Re: Torchwood

Torchwood started off slow, but by about episode 4 of season 1 it gets pretty interesting.

Captain Jack's willingness to hit on anything that moves makes him incredibly appealing.. Sometimes the bisexuality is somewhat forced, but it can also be alot of fun.

Really looking forward to season 2!!

    Re: Torchwood

Just for people that have watched season 2 a long time ago, and are wondering about a third series. It has been confirmed as being in production. Although it's being reported that it won't be the usual 13 episode run, but instead may be a 5 episode mini-series, with each episode running @ 2 hours.

Holy cow! Space has done something right! (A rare occurence since the CTV takeover.) Methinks we have Mr. Askwith to thank for this.

    Re: Torchwood

Wonder why the CBC isn't airing their own TW season 2 co-production?  I keep thinking with my brother who agrres, that the CBC has been very shoddy airing Dr Who in the first place.  Sure in 2005 season 1 was easy to air 'cause of the NHL players strike, but since then they've been very stupid on when they air the series, the Dr Who timeslots, they didn't air the last 2 Christmas specials. The second one "Runaway Bride" didn't air in its prime time slot.  I think they only aired it in a midnight slot with no promotion (maybe aired twice too?). The 3rd one "Voyage of the Damned", CBC never aired to my knowledge (correct me if I'm wrong).  These are somewhat vital in the chronological order the Dr Who episodes air, cause of the stories' continuities.  Both series' stories TW & DW, one cannot watch without the other show.  Their stories are almost so intertwined you need to watch both shows.  To us, Dr Who seems to be no more than a mere nuisance for the CBC to "air" since its their a co-production.  Still glad they're a part of the new series' involvement, but come on show some care for the product too.  Also nice of Space to do something about it and air some sort of new/current running shows over here. We were always wondering when CBC would air TW season 2 when we all at least knew when CBC was airing DW season 4 sometime in Sept.  I mean you can't watch Dr Who season 4 without seeing TW season 2 first.  One needs to know what happens to the Torchwood crew when DW season 4's finale comes up.  This coming from me when I've not even watched any of these shows current seasons.  I just know this from DW/TW websites bits.  Anyone have any thoughts about this?
